Not wanting to see that fab wedding dress or that gorgeous diamond ring that your ex bought you, cause it reminds you of the past or perhaps pisses you off? But can't bring yourself to throw out such expensive stuff?

Now there is a solution in sight for you. Never Liked It Anyway is a new start-up website created by Annabel Acton. A place where you can sell the stuff that you do not want to retain any longer. Annabel who does not even have a technical background, hit upon this idea when she broke up with her partner just 5 days before Christmas. Also the product price listing is also very interesting - there is a "Real world price", the actual price that a user would probably have to pay in the market and then there is a "Break-up price", the price at which he/she wants to sell the sparingly used / new item.

Never Liked It Anyway is being used by its community to sell all sorts of stuff - right from that wedding dress, engagement ring to tickets to theater shows or tickets to a planned future holiday destination. Not only can you buy/sell stuff here but you can also share your feelings or the stories behind each product. The site also has a dedicated community, because the users empathize with each other, and even go so far as to offer advice on your present situation. There is also a "Doctor Lovefix" available, though not being a real doctor, he /she advice's the user on what would seem to be the correct steps to take in case of tricky situations.

Here are excerpts from the site:"I was out one night and this guy comes straight up to me, puts his arms around my waist and tells me I’m beautiful. Urgh. I shrugged him off in a hurry. Then later that night one of my best friends comes up to me saying ‘you have to meet my boyfriend’… of course it’s none other than the cocky jerk that made a move one me. She’s head over heels in love with him and has been for months. I knew he had a reputation, but now I’ve seen it with my own eyes… I dont know what to do. Should I tell her? Should I make him tell her? Help!!" . To which Doctor Lovefix replies Easy. Tell him that if he doesnt tell her, you will. Make the douche cough up the truth.". Annabel, please introduce yourself to our readers.

I am Annabel Acton, I'm 28, work in innovation and am the founder of the website Never Liked It Anyway.

What was the inspiration behind starting Never Liked It Anyway? Is there a special story that you would like to share with our readers?

I broke up with my long-term boyfriend 5 days before Christmas and found myself with plane tickets to London that I no longer wanted. I then started thinking about all the other things I had that I no longer wanted; artwork we'd bought together, tickets to shows coming up that I wouldn't want to see without him and even the jewelry that I loved but just couldn't wear anymore.

I started joking about a site that would let you sell all the break-up relics you're left with when love goes awry; the response was very positive and inspired the kind of reaction I wanted - laughter. Everyone saw the light side (especially with the name Never Liked It Anyway) so I knew I was on to something.

Breakups are something we can all relate to and there's few things in life less fun than a breakup. I wanted to create a site that offered a practical way to help people move on and see the bright-side faster than they were expecting. I also wanted to create a community that was bound by a shared experience and attitude dedicated to moving on.

Being a start-up, what were some of the difficulties that you faced in launching Never Liked It Anyway? How did you surmount them?

There certainly were lots of difficulties! I have no tech background at all, so it was really hard to have conversations around how to build the site as I had no idea of the right direction to take it and how much it should cost. I also felt pressured to partner with a CTO in order to shoulder the costs and be 'taken seriously' by the tech community but it felt strange to me to start a business with someone I had just met. In the end, I'm so glad I did it by myself. I kept equity and I kept control. I had other problems, mainly to do with cost, but there's always a creative way to get what you want in a way that fits with your budget.

What has been the reception to Never Liked It Anyway? What is the biggest compliment that you have received so far?

I'm overwhelmed by how well the site has been received. I've had people write me emails telling me how my site has helped them to move on and see the light side of their situation. I even had an email from one woman telling me she made $3000 by selling her engagement ring and used the money to go on a holiday to Europe. I love hearing stories like that. If I can help make people feel better faster, then I'm very happy.

How did you promote the site initially? Do you think that word-of-mouth promotion has contributed to your success?

I had a marketing and PR budget of $0! All the traction so far has been word of mouth, which is much more genuine and important to me than sponsored adverts. There is such a universal truth baked into the site -  we've all been there, we've all had a breakup, we all know how much they hurt - so a place that talks about them openly and in a light way has resonated with people all around the globe and they've wanted to pass it on.

How do you plan to protect the buyers against scammers? What if the product delivered is not exactly as per the listing or falls short in quality?

That's a really tricky question. I'm looking into ways of getting around this, but there's lots of complications with delivering services like Escrow or buyer protection. The site has thrived so far because the community is really caring and supportive. I've had people tell me that their buyer wrote them a really nice note and offered advice as well as buying the product. Telling the stories behind the product makes people feel connected in a way you dont get with Craigslist of eBay, so let's just hope that this kind of support continues!

When you are not working on Never Liked It Anyway, what do you enjoy doing? What are your favorite past-time activities?

I love going to the theatre, going out with friends for dinner, to see bands or whatever else may be on! I love living in New York, it has an energy and optimism unlike anywhere else. When the weather permits, I love being outdoors, especially picnics and anything to do with rooftops!

If you could have one superhero (or magical) power, what would it be and why?

Definitely teleportation! I'm Australian and if I could pop back home in the blink of an eye, that would be completely amazing!

What are on the top shelves of your inspiration library right now? This can be anything from blogs, books and magazines to vintage catalogues/manuals, etc.

I love National Geographic - that's my little monthly treat. Then my regular reading circuit is Entrepreneur magazine, Wired, Fast Company and Businessweek. Blog-wise I'm a huge fan of fab.com, springwise and incredible things. And then of course there's the 100 links you get forwarded by friends each day!

What are your future plans for Never Liked It Anyway? Are you working on any enhancements or on any new killer Start-up ideas?

There's lots of exciting stuff  on the horizon. We're building out the site to make it more robust and add in some fun new features like video and a panel of advisors. We're also looking to venture in to TV and radio, so definitely plenty to keep me (and my new team!) busy.

What advice would you like to give to aspiring and budding start-ups?

Get going. Don't worry about getting it right just yet. The idea will evolve as it goes and as it grows, so the best thing you can do is make it real and make it live as soon as possible. It means you'll take it seriously sooner, and so will your network of people around you.

Thank you Annabel, your story is truly inspiring. :) We wish you, your team and the entire community of Never Liked It Anyway the very best in the future.
