Scott, please introduce yourself to E-junkies.
My name is Scott Watermasysk. I am the smarter, better looking, more humble co-founder of KickoffLabs.
Tell us about the fascinating concept 'KickoffLabs' uses.
KickoffLabs exists to make getting started on something easy. That might be (and often is) launching a new business, but it also be trying to get early traction for a self published book.
How did you come up with 'KickoffLabs'? What inspired you to start it?
My co-founder and I were trying to figure out what to build. We each had 10 ideas and we struggled to figure out which one of them would be the best to start with.
In the end, we decided to build a tool that would make it easier to share an idea and see if you can gain some early traction.
Would you like to explain in brief, how 'KickoffLabs' work?
KickoffLabs enables our customers to create beautiful viral landing pages in just a couple of seconds. With these landing pages, customers can share information about their idea, ask potential customers to sign-up to receive updates, and then finally encourage these users to tell others about the idea.
Once someone sign-up for one of our customer sites, we can give them some demographic data about the user (age, gender, location) and help them figure out which of their potential customers are the most influential by the number of sign-ups they generated.
In addition, we provide tools which make it very easy for our customers to keep engaging with their potential customers by send thank you emails and with our built in newsletter feature.
If you're to list KickoffLabs' three top features/advantages, what's they be?
How 'KickoffLabs' is different from other companies that offer same services?
KickoffLabs is simple and available. There are no marketing gimmicks to get in and we don’t require you to sign-up with a bunch of their party services to get real value out of our product.
While we would love to have millions of customers we are quite happy to carve our a small niche and provide phenomenal support.
Share with us your pre-launch experience. What was the major difficulty you'd to face?
Finding customers is much harder than it sounds. In fact, our second product is going to focus much more on this area.
For our launch, we did use a prototype of the final product, but we really did not understand how effort you have to put in at the beginning to grow your user base and increase your reach.
Now that your startup is up and running, what is the biggest challenge for you?
Customers. Building a product is easy. Finding customers who are willing to pay you money each month is hard work. But if it wasn’t everyone would do it.
Share your fondest memory with 'KickoffLabs'.
Anytime a customer takes a second out of their busy day to acknowledge the quality of service and support we offer is my new fondest memory. Thankfully it is happening almost daily.
What are your dreams/vision for 'KickoffLabs' as a whole?
Everyone is full of potential. Often I hear from friends that they like our product, but they “don’t have any ideas”. I believe that is simply not true. They just don’t know how to realize those ideas and so they act as if they don’t exist. I am hoping that with each iteration and with the addition of the some other tools we can make taking that first step so easy everyone is willing to give it a shot and see if they can make the world a better place.
Since you've recently started up, one can look up to you for the best advice. What would you like to advise an aspiring SBO?
If you care about your business, you will hate your first release. It will never be good enough. However, your potential customers are busy and while they would love a elegant solution to all of their problems they are usually willing to settle on something which lets them move on to the next problem. You can always ship an update tomorrow.
And a final word for our readers?
Don’t wait for tomorrow. Build and ship something remarkable today.
Scott, thank you for being there to tell us all about 'KickoffLabs'. It is certainly a great tool and I am sure it will have a long way to go. All the best!
