From clever gadgetry to the Veronica Mars movie, the world is filled with projects that might not exist without the aid of crowdfunding. Though less than a decade old, sites like Kickstarter, Indiegogo and Fundable have helped connect innovators with a global community of supporters, resulting in thousands of successfully crowdfunded projects and millions of dollars in pledges.

So you have to leave the town urgently for two days and your pet-sitter is not available and adding more to the trouble, there's no one available to look after your canine partner. What do you do, cancel your trip or leave your pet home alone?

In a situation like this I personally would advice you to go for PetziConnect by a San Jose-based company Petzila. Though a concept for now but would be a life saver for pet owners if it hits the market.

One of its kind, PetziConnect is a device that plugs into a wall outlet and allows you to see and hear your pet while they are at home alone. the device even allows you to dispense treats for them using the Petzila website or app.

This amazing device is named after the company's purple mascot, Petzi (as you can see in the image above).

If you know about Kickstarter, then you are already familiar with the concept of crowdfunding.

It's a simple yet incredibly clever concept that aims at financially helping creative ideas. A campaign is created, the idea of a product or a service is explained, a goal is created to raise a certain amount of money and a deadline determined. Anybody who believes in that idea can contribute money. If the goal is met, that money plays an important role in making that idea a success.

Unglue.it is a recently launched website that aims to bring this concept into eBooks.

As we all know that when it comes to publishing, there are whole lot copyright issues involved that aren't very compatible with digital publishing. You can always share a book legally, but you can't digitally share an eBook without breaking the law. Because these books are DRM (Digital Right Management) protected. It is only possible when the author and the copyright holders agree to publish it for free under 'Creative Commons' license.
