Amelia makes her portraits on pieces of white cotton by first drawing in wax and then pours layers of red wine on top.

Amelia is intrigued by the challenge of controlling the unpredictable nature of wine which is the reflection of a person's character. Amelia Harnas has always been an artist and her website claims that she was born with a blue and white sticker on her forehead proclaiming: Future Artist. Well, it is not so hard to believe as she has created something very unusual but very creative!

At your left, you will see a beautiful shaded embroidered portrait of a lady. This meticulous shading is a result of wax resist and repeated wine stains on white cotton or paper canvases. I absolutely salute her ability to have control over the amount of wine to be poured. Not only that, then she embroiders a particular area of the portrait to make it look more effective.
