Remember the MEMO RANDOMS poster series we featured earlier this year?

Yes, the one about modern workplace etiquettes and it's Kickstarter campaign. Well, the campaign is fully funded now. In fact, it was 570% funded. Wow!

After we featured this poster series we explored more of Jason's work and trust me everything that Jason has done and is doing is not only amazing but is A-W-E-S-O-M-E as well.

Jason is a Texas-based design entrepreneur and creative problem solver. He calls himself a Solutionist (check question number 3 to know more).

Jason has been helping people grow their businesses for over 20 years now with his boutique design consulting studio More Simple. From 3D modelling to graphic designing, photography to branding Jason has been there and done that.

Currently, Jason is working on a couple of new projects just like MEMO RANDOMS. Read on to know more about Jason and his work in our exclusive interview with him.

Happy Reading!

1. Hi Jason, please introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Jason Franzen and I am a Design Entrepreneur. I have been starting and growing businesses for over 20 years - all of which have balanced both creative and business aims.

2. What is More Simple? What inspired you to become a designer and for how long have you been in this field?

More Simple is a boutique design consulting studio I formed 20 + years ago. It is primarily an umbrella for my consulting work I do for others and my own projects, like MEMO RANDOMS.

3. Why do you call yourself a Solutionist?

I settled on Solutionist as a clear definition of my role in any project. I am charged with crafting a solution to a problem and delivering that solution as completely as possible. For me, all Design is focused on problem solving, and this language helps me stay focused on the results, not the process.

4. Your designs spectrum is amazing! With such a diverse array of work, what is the thread that ties them all together?

At the core of any project from More Simple you will likely find a clean solution to a messy problem. I enjoy the challenge of being confronted by chaos, disorganization, lack of focus and clarity - and charting the path toward a calmer, cleaner, more straight-forward place. This applies to Branding, Graphic Design, User-Experience, User-Interfaces and Start-Ups in general. My philosophy is that everything is better when we have More Simplicty!

5. Tell us something about your Video Art project. What's the concept behind the 4 videos?

I have worked on a few video art pieces as a foray into a larger project of mine called ATMOSPHERE. I am aiming to build a platform that can transform any and all video screens into portals for moving artworks. ATMOSPHERE is my publishing platform that will work with motion artists around the world, to bring their artworks into living rooms, restaurants, hotels, airplanes and anywhere else a passive video artwork will serve humanity better than a sports channel or news broadcast that commonly occupy these screens. I have seeded this project with a few art videos of my own.

6. What is project MEMO RANDOMS all about? It must be fun working on this project, share your experience with us.

I was working on a project with a company that had me spending a ton of time working in their offices and interacting with their corporate culture. I felt compelled to send out occasional Memos offering guidance, answers and general tips on proper etiquette for a modern office. These evolved into a series of MEMOs and MEMO RANDOMS was born. I started with a Kickstarter campaign to help produce 7 posters as well as complete an eBook of 77 MEMOs. This succeeded and started to build an audience of like-minded thinkers happy to share my ambition: Fixing the world one MEMO at a time.

I have had the posters featured on websites and blogs around the world.  The posters were picked up for a special promotion on Fab.com as well. I will soon begin selling the posters and other derivatives of the MEMOs on the project site at MemoRandoms.com.

This is a good idea of a creative-driven business concept I enjoy starting and launching.

7. What is the biggest compliment that you have received for your work?

Fortunately, I have a broad range of skills and deliver fairly complete solutions by myself - doing strategy, writing, design, marketing, etc. on my own from my little studio. I have had clients disbelieve that all that I deliver as quickly as I do comes from just myself. That's a huge compliment.

8. What sort of activities do you like to pursue in your free time? Which of these do you find to be most de-stressing?

I will always look forward to reading when I am not in my studio. I devour blogs on technology, the start-up culture and design. I follow only one sport: Formula 1 racing. I never miss watching a race!

9. What are your future plans as a design entrepreneur? Are you currently working on any project?

I am developing a couple of new products that may find their way to Kickstarter. I love the ability to test the market interest in an idea before finalizing it. This collaboration with a passionate community is addictive. Look for some cool things from More Simple later this year.

10. What advice would you like to give to a budding and aspiring designer?

The beauty of being a designer is the willingness to embrace problems - and  immediately turn to trying to solve them. This core skill applies to business, personal and creative problems. A good designer should see every obstacle as an opportunity.

Thank you Jason for taking out the time and doing this interview with us. We'd like to wish you the very best for the future.
