In this fast life today, one thing that most of us don't pay attention to is our eating habits. As the work load and the working hours are slowly increasing the meals are getting compact and the meal time getting shorter and quicker. As a result of this, most of us are gaining weight and because of our tight schedule, we have no extra time to lose weight.

I recently read somewhere that bad eating habits affect our health like what we eat, how we eat and when we eat. So instead of worrying about losing weight, all we have to do is make our eating habits better. Here's one product that's surely going help, HAPIfork.

HAPIfork is the world's first smart fork that helps users eat healthier and slower, lose weight by eating the right time  and in the right speed.

HAPIfork is a product by HAPILABS and is designed to monitor the eating habits of the user. HAPIfork was one of the stars at the CES 2013 and is currently, being funded on Kickstarter. If it reaches its pledged goal, the company hopes to launch it in Q4 2013, with an initial launch limited to the US and Europe.

According to the company, "HAPIfork allows you to simply and quickly monitor and reduce the speed at which you eat your meals. Slowing down and paying attention are important steps towards the goal of creating and maintaining healthier and smarter eating habits."

Whenever, the HAPIfork comes in contact with the user's mouth the fork records it and tells him how long should the interval between each fork serving be. In case, the user eats too fast, the fork vibrates and alerts the user, reminding him to slow down. With time and repeated reminders, the user adapts to the HAPIfork and voila, his eating habits change.

HAPIfork monitors the following activities during one's meal:
  • The number of "fork servings" taken per minute and per meal.
  • The specific duration of each "fork serving" interval.
  • Your overall meal duration.
  • The exact time at which one start and ends the meal.
HAPILABS' online dashboard or the mobile app (both Android and iPhone) lets HAPIfork users see their information for each meal. Here's a screenshot below:

The user can upload his information either via Bluetooth from the mobile or using a USB cable connecting the HAPIfork to his computer. He can also share his information with family and friends.
