
At first Glowtrend might look like Facebook with similar features; 'Likes', 'Messenger', 'Friend Suggestions' but as you get more acquainted with it you'll realize the difference. Glowtrend has it's own version of iTunes storefront (where musicians can upload and sell their work), chat interface like Google Plus, a Craiglist like in-house marketplace and Twitter like micro-blogging. Glowtrend has everything a user wants from a social sharing and social networking website. With its recent launch Glowtrend, it has become quite popular and is gaining a lot of fans.
Glowtrend is the brainchild of Michael Wellman Jr., who is an entrepreneur, project manager at a construction firm. He has majored in Business Management, Architectural Engineering and Construction Management. Glowtrend initially used to be called MyFaceZone but in an attempt to distance it from its rival website, Michael changed the name to Glowtrend.
You can use Glowtrend to advertise or promote your brand, create and promote apps, share information like videos, photos etc. with friends on Facebook and Twitter. You can make new friends connect with them with the help of the instant messenger or send them personal messages. Apart from the web-based platform you can also access Glowtrend on all mobile platforms. Read on to know more about Glowtrend in our exclusive interview with its founder, Michael:
1. Hi Michael, tell us something about yourself.
I am an entrepreneur, project manager at a construction firm, and founder of the social media site Glowtrend. I have majored in Business Management, Architectural Engineering and Construction Management. Things I enjoy are business, finances, markets, technology and astronomy. Specific interests are in new innovations and start-up companies.

2. What is Glowtrend? What inspired you to launch it?
Glowtrend is a new social network and media sharing site. Our site is a free social website for everyone with no specific demographic. We are leading the way in social entertainment and innovative technology by pushing social media to its limits. We are doing this by combining vast amounts of different mediums into one site. Our site combines parts of YouTube type video sharing, Facebook similar social sharing, Twitter like micro-blogging and newly developed iTunes comparable music sharing and selling. Our goal is to provide a platform for social networking that is made easier and provides a unique experience for our users. Glowtrend gives you the ability to share and import media from other major social sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Blogger, Tumblr, Flickr, and Instagram. Glowtrend is full of social media capabilities and all the things a person would want for sharing online. My inspiration comes from my interest in social media and online technology. I believe that the internet is a huge driving force in our day to day life and I want to be a part of providing great platforms and valuable experiences.
3. How is Glowtrend different from other social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter etc.? What is the USP of Glowtrend?
Glowtrend differs from other social sites in many ways. One of which is the fully customizable dashboard. Here you can customize the layout and design of your display, profile and structure of layout. We offer a built in blog section, MP3 sharing, a news feed from major media outlets, video chat rooms, games and an in-house marketplace similar to Craigslist . You can pay to feature or sponsor videos, photos and marketplace listings. Our ad center is still in development and in testing for pay-per click advertising. This is only the beginning for Glowtrend and there is much more to come.
4. Tell us about the Shoutbox feature on Glowtrend.
The Shoutbox feature is a feature I see beneficial for quick posts in an open forum setting. We have been working through the features benefits. We see this as an avenue for users to posts quick updates which is posted in front of everyone. This could be compared to a small twitter type area. We have been enabling and testing off and on. The individual user has the ability to toggle the feature off and on. At the current time we have disabled until further development is looked at on this feature.
5. How are you promoting Glowtrend? Being a social networking site itself, how are you using other social networking sites to promote Glowtrend? What sort of traction have you got as far as the numbers go?
We use traditional marketing and promotion for our site. Some of the mediums we use are radio advertising, online advertising, and other social media sites. We have accounts on multiple social networks to connect to the masses and also to make sure we keep up with all the other social sites development. We have seen over three thousand users in the first couple months and are gaining new registrations daily.
6. Apart from the web and mobile-based platform, is Glowtrend available as an iPhone and Android app?
We are in the research and development stage of our mobile application. This is a big step for Glowtrend and when we move forward we want to make sure it is done correctly and at the correct time.
7. What are your future plans for Glowtrend? Are you working on integrating any cool new features?
Glowtrend is still very new and we are just very pleased with the progress so far. At this time we feel we have accomplished a more than successful launch. Our future plans are to watch closely at the rate of growth and popularity among demographics. We are focused on our server capabilities and speed and functionality. One of the very immediate things we are working on is our music store. We are preparing the terms and conditions and then will begin testing.
8. When not working on Glowtrend, what other activities do you indulge in? What do you find most relaxing?
I enjoy sports and riding ATV. Sometimes to relax I do absolutely nothing and just catch up on personal chores to get ready for another busy week. One of the most relaxing things for me is vacationing and traveling.
9. What are on the top shelves of your inspiration library right now? This can be anything from blogs, books and magazines to vintage catalogues/manuals, etc.
I read Forbes magazine, Entrepreneur magazine and Business week magazine.
10. What advice would you like to offer to aspiring/budding entrepreneurs?
Determination is a main key to success as an entrepreneur. Nothing is a guarantee and nothing comes easy. Follow your dreams and interests.
