Nikki, let's start with a brief introduction of yours.
I'm Nikki Pilkington and I've been promoting websites since 1994 - through search engines and email marketing, through banner advertising and CPM, to Adwords and Google and now Social Media.
Tell us about your wonderful blog. What is it all about?
I have 3 blogs. NikkiPilkington.com is about SEO, Social Media and Blogging, and provides a lot of tools for people to help themselves. The 30 Day Challenge blog focuses on a series of 30 Day Challenges I run or am part of, and is at http://www.30daychallenges.nikkipilkington.com/
Finally, Business on Twitter focuses solely on Twitter, and the business (and fun) reasons to use it.
What inspired you to start blogging? We would love to know about the inception of your blog.
In 1996/7 I wrote an ebook called 299 Steps to Website Heaven, and began blogging to promote it. Before that I had played around with personal blogging but not really considered blogging for business. How wrong I was!
How has blogging helped you both personally as well as professionally?
I like to think my writing style has developed a little since then! It's also allowed me to come into contact with many bloggers I admire and respect. Business wise, I now blog for a number of clients, and of course sell my ebooks through my blogs.
When you started your blog, did you think it'd become as famous and successful as it has become now?
I'm a long way from fame, but, in that my blog brings me clients and buyers of my books and courses, the blog is successful. It's developed organically, and become something I love - I wouldn't have thought that all those years ago when I was scratching my head and wondering what to write about!
What do you think your blog stands out?
I give a lot away for free, and think that anyone can learn to do what I do - after all *I* learned how to do it. I'm a massive believer in giving people the tools to help themselves, and I think that shows in my blog.
You've published so many E-books that seems really interesting. What are the differences between publishing a book and a blog? Do they compliment each other?
Publishing a blog is a lot easier than publishing an ebook! A lot more thought needs to go into an ebook, whereas a blog can be an off the cuff comment or a War and Peace type essay.
Having a blog alongside an ebook is great - they complement each other. Extracts from the book make great blog posts, and often if you go through your past blog posts, you could probably combine a lot of them into an ebook on their own.
Let's have a rapid fire:

Your favorite blog?
Birdsontheblog.co.uk for its great mix of business and non business blogs from some very clever women.
Share your fondest memory through this blogging journey.
The response to some of my more personal blogs has been lovely, and having people tell me my business blogs have helped them always puts a smile on my face.
Would you like to share your future goals/plans with us?
To keep on keeping on. I have the ideas for another 10+ ebooks in the 30 Day Challenge series, so 2012 will be a big year for me.
What are the other things that interests you? What do you do in your free time?
Free time? What's that? LOL I love to spend time with my youngest daughter who is 21 months old, playing and singing. When I can I spend time with my eldest daughter, who is 19 and lives in France.
Cinema, eating and traveling fill my time when I'm not working.
Many other aspiring bloggers would draw inspiration from you. What message do you have for them?
No-one is perfect and no-one has all the answers. Honesty in your blogs will shine through. And understand that not everyone is going to agree with you all of the time - don't let that stop you blogging!
And a final word for readers?
Keep on blogging!
Nikki, thank you for the interview. E-junkie wishes you all the best for your future endeavors.
