It is still in its beta phase and we are convinced that this is just the tip of the ice berg before it manages to give Facebook a run for its money. Google seems to be well prepared and determined to make their third attempt towards social networking a success. Hence they have decided to unify all its products and encompass them with Google+. To begin with they plan to re-brand two of its most popular products: Picasa and Blogger.
Few months back we assumed that Google has finally decided to give Blogger some attention by unveiling a new interface that will be rolled out throughout 2011. But little did we know that all this is part of a much bigger strategy.
Google will rename Picasa and Blogger to 'Google Photos' and 'Google Blogs' respectively. Mashable reports that the transition is likely to take place around the same time when Google+ makes it public debut. "The date aligns with the likely public launch of Google+. Mashable has been told to expect the public debut of Google+ on or before July 31. The date is important because it's the day all private Google Profiles will be deleted."
Although there has been no official announcement by Google and have refused to comment on such reports...yet!
Blogger was acquired by Google in 2003 and a year later Picasa also became a part of Google family. The purpose behind re-branding these services now is that, since a lot of users will be using Picasa for images on Google+ and also share their posts from Blogger. But not many people are aware of the fact that both these products are a part of Google.
No matter how many speculations float all over the web, the fact remains that Google+ is here to stay and if the company has decided to re-incarnate two of it's best products for this project then they must be pretty much certain to finally succeed this time.
