It's been a year since Google first made the official Google Glass announcement, leaving everyone waiting to own it. Earlier, this year we heard rumors that the Google Glass 'Explorer Edition' would be available somewhere this year but this soon, we had no clue!
Yesterday, Google contacted all the those Explorers (developers) who signed up for the Google Glass 'Explorer Edition' at the Google I/O last year, letting them know that the Google Glass is all ready now.
At last both the hardware and the software for the Google Glass are ready and the first few units are off the production line, ready for shipping. In an official mail informing the Explorers, Google mentioned that 2,000 Explorers who believed in the project, signed up for the Glass.
In the mail Google made it clear that not all the 2,000 units are ready, it's just a few that are out of the production line and it would be shipping the units in waves."We know you've been standing by patiently to get Glass. So, instead of waiting for all of the devices to be ready, we want to start delivering them to you now. We’re producing enough for everyone, but only a portion of them are ready today. Therefore, we’ll be notifying you in waves, and as soon as we’re ready to invite you, we’ll let you know. When the time comes, you’ll receive an email with all the details."
Along with this update, Google has also announced (at last) the features and specifications of the Google Glass on its support forum.
Here are some below:
If you are one of those 2,000 Explorers who got the official Google mail, do let us know and don't forget to share your excitement in the comment section below.
