Yeah, you read that right! A Mexican internet portal called Terra is encouraging dog owners to be decent enough to clean up after their pets, and in order to make that possible they've  come up with an ingenious idea. They want you to collect your dog's poo and in exchange, you will receive free WiFi. The number of minutes of free WiFi depends on the volume of your dog's turd.

No matter how bizarre, it is one hell of a creative way to inspire dog owners to act civilized and clean up that mess. Terra has teamed up with ad agency DDB to create a machine that measures the weight of the poo and accordingly offers free WiFi connection. People can simply drop in the bag full of poo into the machine, and enjoy free Internet.






























You may argue that some indecent (rather unethical) citizens might try to fool the machine by filling the bag with garbage instead of poo in order to receive free Internet. But if you think about it, even if they are dumping garbage, they are eventually cleaning up the park, and that is the whole purpose of this project. To ensure that the machine is not being mishandled, a hostess stands besides the machine and hands out bags to dog owners.





















There is no saying as to how much difference this project will make, but it sure will give many dog walkers an incentive to clean the park and when they receive free WiFi, it will also result in spending more time in natural environment, rather than surfing the net in a closed room.

It is projects like this that restores our faith in noble actions, and companies like Terra deserve a pat on the back for making a noble act so much fun.

This reminds of a somewhat similar project by Volkswagen called, 'The Fun Theory' that encouraged people to do things like, using the stairs rather then the escalator or throwing trash in the bin; by adding a fun element to it.

On a personal note, even if you don't have a Poo WiFi in your area, you should clean up after your dog anyways.
