An Inspiring Flip Flop Story

Posted: 9/28/2011
What do you do with your worn out and faded flip flops? Chuck it in the bin, just like any of us.

But not in Africa, where they are recycled into colorful lamps and flower pots. Have a look at the image on the left, this vibrantly artistic flower pot is created out of recycled flip flops found in the shores of Eastern Africa.

"They are discolored, worn, torn, patched up and eventually tossed away or lost. After a long trip through Asia or Africa they end up in sewers and in the ocean. Then they are washed up on the shores of Eastern Africa. There they are found, collected, and eventually reclaimed. Turned into a collection of sustainable design objects in which the eventful travel tales of worn Flip Flops is captured and translated."
