| Pattie Simone at the TWTRCON Conference in San Fransisco after delivering her SalesTweet talk. |
We contacted her for a small interview with us and she has been very kind to spare some time for that. Catch it below:
Pattie, please introduce yourself to E-junkies.
I'm a Viral Activist, Wordsmith, Vlogger, Speaker and Consultant. I love to help people find smarter solutions, spend less, work more productively and make more money. My motivational talks, editorials/features, videos and marcom services seek to provide inspiration & direction, so entrepreneurs, corporate audiences, trade associations and academic groups can learn how to leverage their assets, use social media sensibly and create an empowering, thriving environment (and results!)
Tell us about 'WomenCentric'. What is its mission?
WomenCentric is a new global online directory for women experts, authors, activists and speakers. We provide promotional ad space and "crowing" room for established and emerging leaders, without the daily commitment connected with other social networking spaces.
Our mission: to be the world's best promotional platform for talented women with diverse skill sets and interests and a trusted resource for diverse client sectors, including individuals, entrepreneurs, the media, conference planners and our advertisers.
Other unique perks:
- it's for women only, so the experts are able to shine in a less crowded venue
- we provide ongoing self-promotion, career advancement and entrepreneurial success advice via our weekly eNewsletter, SuccessPaths
- we are SEO-obsessed, generating quality organic traffic to the site and our members' pages via niche-focused Areas of Expertise (we happily add new categories as needed, to suit the unique needs & objectives of each new listing expert)
- we deliver an amazing amount of dedicated editorial and social media campaigns for our paid listing members, for pennies a day.
When and how did you come with' WomenCentric'?
WomenCentric was born over 6 years ago, after I met several interesting and knowledgeable women speakers in different networking spaces. I proposed joining forces, so as a group we could foster new learning and business-growth opportunities through our collaboration. Most recently WomenCentric acted as a hybrid of a speaker's bureau, marketing services company and an agent, representing a small group of high-level experts who specialized in a range of corporate training programs and keynotes.
After years of doing marketing talks and covering tech Conferences around the US, I kept meeting dynamic women with different objectives. They were seeking one venue to help them connect with peers, post their credentials and/or promote their interests and/or business doings. After getting this feedback from hundreds of women (and seeing that no other venue allowed for diverse women to post their talents, goals and expertise) I decided to turn WomenCentric into a fully automated global directory, searchable by name, state (for US-based experts), country and keyword-rich Areas of Expertise. We already have listing members from England and Denmark and expect to welcome women from Australia, Germany, China, India and France soon!
What inspires you? Is there anyone whom you idolize?
From national names (like Martha Stewart and Tony Hsieh, the CEO of Zappos.com) to the everyday entrepreneurs who have endured serious setbacks and "made it" to their unique level of success, those people give me inspiration everyday.
I respect lots of different kinds of entrepreneurs, authors and activists - anyone involved in scientific and medical research that can positively impact the quality of life in struggling and developing countries - those people are amazing. As far as business leaders, I'd love to be a mini-Oprah or Martha producing many different deliverables, taking business organization tips from design/lifestyle expert Christopher Lowell, as well as emerging fast-track companies like DailyWorth.com.
Tell us about your blogs: Write-Communications.com and Marketing-Advantage.net. What are they all about?
Well, here's where the cobbler is shoeless! I've been devoting so much time to revamping WomenCentric, producing video news and tips segments for my ExpertsnAuthors and FlipReport YouTube channels, I've been VERY remiss in attending to my own blogs. I intend on streamlining my personal editorial portals, so that I focus more on social media, new marketing and videos, but until that happens, Write-Communications leans towards strategy and print communications topics; and Marketing-Advantage plays in the new media space.
What is your vision for 'WomenCentric' as a whole? What do you plan to take it long way?
I plan on growing WomenCentric to 10 million listing members and selling it within 5 years - so I'm seeking my first round of funding. With the right team in place we'll be able to develop multiple revenue streams quickly, through advertising revenues from various national, regional and global vendors/organizations on the site and in our eNewsletter, paid listing members who want more robust digital ad space, as well as events, videos, workshops, webinars, eBooks and licensed products.

What are the other things that interests you? What's your passion?
I love singing, reading, writing (I'm working on my first business book and a chick lit book) cooking, and have done a bit of acting, but two of my favorite things are spending time with my family & friends and visiting historic places. My passion is to help as many people as I can, to live a full life with memorable adventures, surrounded by other positive, passionate do-ers!
Many of our readers would draw inspiration from you. Do you have any message for them?
Do your research, and don't be swayed too much by negative responses from those in your personal network. Many highly successful people became that way by navigating past numerous roadblocks. If you are passionate about what you do, and can't imagine yourself doing anything else, odds are you will succeed, but it may not be exactly the way you expected it to be. I was a retail entrepreneur first, and thought THAT was the ultimate goal; ends up that was just the first step in a long journey!
Pattie, thanks for a great interview. We hope WomenCentric do wonders and meet its objectives very soon.
Thanks for a wonderful interview Pattie. We wish you all the very best!
