Who knew scrap metal could look so delicately beautiful!
Cal Lane, a very talented artist with a unique approach uses blow torch to carve crude pieces of metal into lace-like patterns; her canvas comes from oil drums, oil cans, wasted car parts, shovels or wheel barrows.
"I have always been interested in embracing the very thing that repels me in order to understand it: I prefer to make sense of things in order to suspend (or pass) judgement." shares Cal.
She has a wonderful ability to showcase contrast in the most subtle and thought provoking manner. She further shares that "The crushed steel of the car is cut into fine lace creating a drapery of disruption and sadness, a conflict of attraction to fancy work and attraction to a horrific image."
