James used to own an auto recycling business in Brisbane before becoming a full time artist. One day he saw a trophy made out of gears and the artist within James thought that he can do much better than that. As soon as he drew inspiration from that trophy he started sculpting illustrations out of junk material from cars...thanks to his business, car scrap was easily at his disposal.

Soon after, he closed his auto recycling business and became a full time artist and dedicated himself to creating fascinating sculptures using auto parts. "I wasn't an artist looking for new medium to use but rather a guy looking for a bit of an artistic outlet. Soon enough I came to appreciate the character and time capsule like qualities of older parts." admit James.

James saw a pile of spark plugs lying around and pictured them as wool. His imagination led to creation of this Ram which is one of his favorite creations.

He collects scraps from scarp bins and yards, while creating his unique art James ensures that he does not change or bend shape of any part, although he cuts them from here and there but never changes its original shape so that those who understand car mechanism can relate to these parts.

His sculptures are made out of gears, spark plugs, exhausts, radiators or just about anything that catches this artist's eye. Some of his scrap pieces are more than 80 years old, making his creations truly antique. "Often the longest part of the process is finding old parts suitable for sculpture."

"After a period of time, people began to become more and more in what I was doing and now what I do win me life, its a dream come reality." shares James.

A very talented artist who listened to his instincts when the time was right. His work is exhibited and appreciated world wide, little did this spare parts seller knew that it is his artistic mind that will earn him much deserved recognition.
