Mark Zuckerberg has announced couple of changes on Facebook giving its users a better control over their information.

One of the feature introduced is 'Download Your Information' according to which users will be able to download their entire information to their computer and easily transfer them to other sites. One can quickly download their friend lists, messages, wall posts, photos, status updates and entire profile information.

"Philosophically, thats the core thing that people want from Facebook. People want to be able to easily take their information to another service and do that in a safe way" announced the founder of Facebook.

Another much delayed feature is the 'Groups' feature that allows users to bifurcate their friend list as per family, co-workers, club members, buddies or in any way desired. This helps in giving out limited information to a particular set of people. "It's a simple way to stay up to date with small groups of your friends and to share things with only them in a private space" he explained. "The net effect is your whole experience is organized around spaces of the people you care most about" he adds.

Apart from being able to download information and segregate friends list, Facebook has also introduced a new privacy feature that allows you to view all applications at once. Applications tend to take out a lot of information from your profile, and if you really wish to use that application there nothing much you can do about it. But from now on you will be able authorize the data used by these applications. "You can change the settings for an application to make less information available to it, or you can remove it completely" Mark explains.

Download your information tool will start rolling out to users from today onwards.
