Ross Hoffman from Twitter's business development team has indicated that they will be launching a real-time dashboard for Twitter users enabling them to analyze and channel their marketing strategy better through the largest micro-blogging site.
The announcement was made in Sports Marketing 2.0 Summit, where Ross announced that sports leagues, players and teams will soon have access to Twitter's real time dashboard. It is not yet clear as to when it will be available widely, however, Webtrends reported that by last quarter of this year some users will be able to view how far their tweets reach and understand who all are influential in their network.
Justin Kistner, after having a few words with Ross clarified that "Like their releases of ads and the new UI, this will likely start as a beta release and have a phased roll out. Because the conference was a sports marketing conference, Ross said it would be available to that audience, but presumably it will be available to all users."
The product is created by Trendly, a real time trend analytics company that was acquired by Twitter this June; this dashboard created by them will be available for free. Through this dashboard, users will be able to analyze their reach on Twitter and strategize marketing campaigns accordingly.
This seems like a predictable move by Twitter considering that off late they have been working very hard on creating their own applications rather than letting their users rely on third party applications.
