Analyzing Bounce Rate is as important as analyzing visitors to your blog/site, it not only helps you in determining the nature of traffic to your site but also lets you know if your content is compelling enough for the visitors to spend more time on your site.

Last week we discussed in detail about the importance of Bounce Rate, this week we aim to provide you with tips & tricks which can help you in lowering the bounce rate for your site.






Design

Your blog design plays a vital role in keeping your visitor on your blog for a longer time, a simple, neat and well defined layout can do wonders and lower your bounce rate.

Relevant Content

Suppose your blog is about Gardening, then aim at providing quality content based on gardening without going off the track. Remember, good content always wins the race.

Your aim is to keep the visitor on your blog for a longer time, therefore by providing them with related articles or most popular articles you not only engrosses them but also lures them into asking for more.

Fast Loading

We all know that patience is not a common virtue among your readers, hence it is advisable to check the loading speed of your blog and keep it fast and hassle free.

Interlinking

To keep the visitor on your blog, try to interlink your articles which helps them in finding new stuff without having to search for it. Linking your old articles helps in providing references to your readers.

Avoid Pop-Ups

There is nothing more annoying than seeing pop-ups in midst of reading an article. In order to keep your site clean and simple, avoid pop-ups and also try not to place advertisements in between the post body.

Find Your Audience

One of the major reasons for high bounce rate is receiving the wrong kind of audience on your blog, try to target your readers by posting links on several bookmarking sites which will help you in placing your articles under an apt category thereby helping people to find what they are looking for and lowering your bounce rate in return.

Compelling Headlines

Try to have interesting titles for your posts which aims at creating curiosity among readers and therefore compelling them to explore more articles on your blog. But in no circumstances what so ever should you give misleading page titles.

Navigation Menu

If you want your visitors to engage in your site then you must have a well defined navigation menu placed at the top of the page. Try not to have too many sections or too less, and also make sure that you place your articles in accordance to the nature/purpose of each section.

Surveys, Polls or Action Buttons

Conducting surveys or polls not only encourages your readers to interact but also helps you in determining the current trend. You can ask them for suggestions and feedbacks which will help you in providing them with information that they are looking for. Action buttons helps in guiding your readers to the next step, for example: subscribing blog updates, tweeting your article, liking your article or sharing it.
