Amazon has decided to acquire yet another online store - Woot.com. Woot is an unconventional shopping site that sells only one item at a time, they lure their buyers by providing a 'deal a day' and is quiet famous for their witty sense of humor.

Woot's CEO Matt Rutledge confirms that Woot will remain independent and Amazon will not be interfering in their operations in any way; the deal sounds pretty much similar to Amazon's last year acquisition of Zappos.com. The acquisition is expected to close in the third quarter of this year.

"The acquisition will foster the long-term growth of Woot, allowing it to continue its passion for serving customers with low prices across a broad selection of products" announced Amazon.

Woot was launched in 2004, with 2.75 million registered users it is one of the first E-commerce site that offered only product in a day. Currently Woot is offering Kindle on their site for $149 as opposed to Amazon's price of $189; introductory price I reckon.

Although Amazon itself offers many daily deals but Woot is famous not only for it loyal followers but also indulges them in impulse shopping. "“Amazon is a destination that is all about focused buying; you go there when you’re looking for something very specific, Woot is about persuading you to buy something you didn’t even know you needed.” believes Sucharita Mulpuru, an E-commerce analyst at Forrester Research.

"Holy crap! Woot has signed an agreement with Amazon - yes, the Amazon - to become an independent subsidiary of the ecommerce colossus. Woot HQ will remain in Carrollton, Texas, and will operate as autonomously as other Amazon companies like Zappos and Audible. More details forthcoming after we pick our eyeballs up off of the floor." announced Matt Rutledge.
