Google has recently improvised their Docs applications which promises a smoother and faster interface for creating and sharing documents, spreadsheets and presentations.

According to their official blog, "June is the month of graduations and new beginnings for millions of students around the world. The Google Docs team is also continually learning and we’re happy to announce that the new documents and spreadsheets editors have both graduated."

Below is a brief of the latest improvisation in Google Docs Application:

1. A lot of new features have been added to Spreadsheets, some of them are: formula highlighting, cell auto fill, editable formula bar, sheet dragging, sheet menu, range sorting and faster scrolling etc. The old version will be available for few more weeks, before introducing GoogleLookup and Spreadsheet Gadgets.

2. Over the next couple of weeks new documents will be created through New Documents Editor, although documents from the older version will remain. The new version will have real time collaboration, higher quality imports, ruler and an option for chatting with the collaborators simultaneously while editing a particular document and making changes within it.

3. They have also rolled out a feature for creating and sharing presentations; the presentation can be prepared online therefore one can share and view it in real time with anyone at anytime.

4. Google Docs is a global application, because it is available in 10 different languages.

5. One can use any browser for reading Google Docs, see here to learn more about the browsers supported. Align Left

6. They have also incorporated right to left text support for typing in documents and spreadsheets. Those who use Arabic or Hebrew will be able to compose documents more conveniently.

7. They added more keyboard shortcuts to the editor for speeding up common operations.

8. They have slashed out some features from the older version; Offline document access via GoogleGears, editing HTML and editing CSS will no longer be available. However, the old documents will be available for editing with old editor with the possibility of converting them in a new format.

The new editor for documents will go live from 21st June, whereas latest spreadsheets version will be activated from 30th June.
