Kirsten Krason is a Utah-based interior designer who loves everything that she's doing; be it being a mom, an interior designer or blogging.
Designing for long has been Kirsten's greatest passions, as a child she used to spend her daysorganinzing and decorating her room, but when it came to making professional choices, she was a bit confused. She took to studying Recreational Therapy at the Utah State University in Logan. It was after she dropped out of college that she realized what she really wanted to do in her life.
According to her website, "Being creative is something that always came natural to me — I love art, putting together different color schemes, and I'm always up for a good room rearrangement".
Soon Kirsten decided to explore interior designing and graduated with her degree in interior designing in the spring of 2010.
After working as an intern with Alice Lane Home Collection, Kirsten started her business in June 2010 and since then she's loving every part of it. "Working with many individuals allows me to really get to know clients, their space, and their taste. Creating a brand new space for someone assures me that I made the right decision in following my love for Interior Design—the work is beyond rewarding", she shares on her website.
Apart from looking after her son Jett, interior designing and blogging, Kirsten also loves to travel. She has spent 5 months in Russia during her college days.

1. Kirsten, please introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi! I'm a stay-at-home-mom, blogger and Interior Designer. I started my business and blog in 2009 and since then I've had the opportunity to work on lots of fun and exciting projects.
2. First of all, is it possible to have a balanced motherhood and a busy creative life?
I don't think there is such thing as balancing it. I try to just live in the moment with whatever I'm doing. If I'm at the park with my son I focus on him and if I'm with a client they are my sole focus. I would never sleep at night if I thought about all the things I have to accomplish in a week!
3. How do you get your inspiration before you start a DIY project? How do you go about collecting materials for the project?
I love getting inspiration from catalogs! I'll take a look at an expensive item I want and them figure out how to make it myself for much cheaper. I usually buy my materials online from places like etsy and amazon.
4. What inspired you to take to interior design? How would you describe your personal style?
I've always loved anything creative and artistic but it wasn't until I got married and started decorating my own home that interior design crossed my mind. I had originally started my major in Recreational Therapy so after 3 years of college I changed my major and started completely over! That was one of the best decisions I ever made. I would describe my design style as colorful, bold, clean-lined and transitional.
6. Your party with the Small Fry and Land of Nod was Fab, the florals were great but I specially liked the the way you decorated the winter wonderland backdrop. How did you do it and whose idea was it?
I was in charge of the backdrop for the party and none of my ideas were working out! Everything was too expensive or impossible to transport. I had an idea to do something on a sheet so I could fold it up. I decided to attach vinyl decals to the sheet but they kept falling off! Finally I just decided to paint the sheet using puffy craft paint. I smudged the paint a little when I wanted thicker lines and I also used chalk to shade certain parts. To keep the chalk from spreading I sprayed it with hair spray! Our theme for the party was a winter woodland so hence the trees and forest feel!
8. What are your future plans as a DIY Artist? What would be that one project that you would love to work on?
I love party styling so I would love to throw more great parties! Decorating for parties is like decorating rooms except you get to be much more creative and do things totally out of the box.
9. What advice would you have for mom's on a budget?
If there is something you really really want try just making it! You'll love it all that much more because your blood sweat and tears have gone into it!
Thanks Kirsten, for taking out the time and doing this interview with us. We'd like to wish you the very best for the future.

5. What is the biggest compliment that you have received for all the DIY projects you have done?
I love hearing people say, "I never would have though of that!". I feel like with Pinterest it's so hard to come up with totally original ideas. It's a huge compliment when people think your idea was unique and original.6. We gave them out as favors to everyone who came to the event.8. What are your future plans as a DIY Artist? What would be that one project that you would love to work on?
