It has almost been a week since Apple launched its two iPhones for this year, the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C and Apple has set another opening weekend record with over 9 million iPhone sales. Wow!

As per the market and stats iPhone 5S has not only outsold iPhone 5C but all the past generations of iPhones as well.

And why not, iPhone 5S has an edge over the iPhone 5C and the past generations of iPhones and that is mostly because of the fingerprint scanner feature.

While Apple is clamming that this feature is not hack-able and if the rumors are to be believed is also challenging hackers to hack this feature. A very clever move by the company because if someone is actually able to hack the fingerprint scanner, the next thing on Apple's radar would be make the device hack-proof.

Many hackers from all around the world are already working on, trying to hack the features and some of them have actually claimed to have done it.

A German hackers group called the Chaos Computer Club have been able to hack this feature in less than 48 hours after the launch of the iPhone 5S and ironically the group has done that using easy everyday means.

The group has done that by taking a photograph of the fingerprint of iPhone user from a glass surface, created a fake finger and unlocked the iPhone 5S. Demonstrating the fact that fingerprint biometrics is not as safe as we all consider it to be and evidently, should be avoided.

According to one of the hacker from the group with the nickname Starbug, "As we have said now for more than years, fingerprints should not be used to secure anything. You leave them everywhere, and it is far too easy to make fake fingers out of lifted prints."

So the bottom line here is that the iPhone 5S is not that secured as Apple is claiming it to be. So think twice before making the Touch ID feature the main reason to purchase the iPhone 5S.
