Don't be fooled by the name Interior Design. We are not featuring some housing decor or furnishing line here. It's abstract art that's all set to baffle you today.
James Friedman's quirky work got us glued. The Ohio based photographer literally portrays the innards of unlikely things. It's strange where he finds his professional inspiration from. In this uniquely titled project Interior Design, James practically ripped apart golf balls for a click.
The artist isn't big on golf but he strangely had a collection of the golf balls at his place. The imagination was enough to get him started as he sliced open 20 different types of golf balls. He was enamored by the strange beauty he found within each. Thus was born his documenting work he called the Interior Design, for the namesake.
Tracing the inner beauty of the golf balls onto his camera's lens, the results are simply startling. He shares that "The photographs reveal a tiny world of strange shapes, layers, and colors...Some of the balls have guts that look like something you’d see when peering into a microscope in a laboratory. Others look like illustrations showing cross sections of planets. Others look like abstract circles of color and texture".
The success of the project got James interested in exploring the vistas of abstract art further, a step ahead in his simple documentary photography skills.
Here's the whole collection of his golf ball series. It's intriguing what you can capture if you have an imagination to guide you along. Happy viewing!

I really liked those. I may have to look into some of his work for interior design in Manhattan Ny - very creative.
