Facebook, on Tuesday announced its latest innovation in its arsenal this year- Embed posts into your statuses and blogs in the HTML format or as video/graphics as well.
Earlier this year, Facebook took to emulating Twitter's phenomenal "hashtag" ace into its ecosystem so as to widen the ambit of user and business reach on the social networking site. The Graph Search tool was introduced with the exquisite aim of refining search in the Facebook niche. And now, the "Embed Posts" seems but a logical continuation of these categorical innovations.
On the other hand, Twitter too has borrowed Facebook's success features especially the "Like" button as "Tweet" on its platform to enable users to uninhibitedly share content they read and liked.
The current set of changes i.e Embeddable posts are only workable for posts that are set on Public view mode on your page. This will include everything from images, text, videos, Likes, Comments Like Pages and even hashtags.
With Twitter and Instagram popularizing the embed option in the recent years, the option is currently available to a few sites alone such as Mashable, People, Huffington Post, Bleacher Report, CNN . Eventually the feature will be rolled out for all user accounts as a drop down action will enable them to embed the HTML code of the posts to wherever they want.
Taking a look at the larger picture, will the embeddable posts work?
Facebook is a proven social media giant and the obvious reason for this has been content that is posted and shared between various Pages on the platform. For one, this feature is a positive intervention against Copyrights thieves. On the other , it will add a new tangent to the viral nature of Facebook content. For self publishers, freelance writers and businesses especially it could be a great opportunity to launch their works to an open audience.
Facebook which started off as a private interaction site among friends and family, has certainly made a move to break of out this mold.
What do you feel about the story? We hope too see our readers embed and get embedded .
