Look at the painting on the side, what do you imagine it to be? A simple water color portrait maybe?

That's where you got it technically wrong. It is actually a digital painting made by Japanese artist Seikou Yamaota on his way to work that actually looks like a watercolor piece. Amazing isn't it?

Well I'm no expert at artistic technicalities myself but with a handful of knowledge and interest I have in artistic endeavors, Seikou's technique compelled me to write about him.

We at E-junkie have in the past featured varied artistic talents in the painting genre but Seikou is different in the sense that his works do not need any canvass, paper, charcoal, graphite or other such traditional mediums as we know. All he uses his iPod Touch and a iOS drawing app- ArtStudio.

A resident of Osaka and a painter by profession, Seikou shares how he began dabbling on his iPod and how it has a great potentiality as a tol for artists in the future."I started the iPhone art and painted by using the iPod Touch on a train for practice. The need to be released from the constraints of the tool and place to draw, wait for paint to dry, I was fascinated by iPhone art. I can draw freely at any time".

With intricate strokes created over hours of hard work on the screen, Seikou's aims to produce artworks that appear like water color paintings but which are in fact digital artworks. And looking at his works now, he certainly fulfills his goals quite beautifully.

With technology developing rapidly, artists such as Yamaoka have a lot to look forward to. Enmeshing traditional means of art with technology will not only help them explore their artistic vistas deeply but help them grab the necessary limelight for their works. Appreciation is all what a artist truly craves for after all, isn't it?

Here are some of his stunning artworks created using just his finger and 3.5 inch Ipod.

Seikou also shares this awesome video of how he creates his paintings. Take a look below.
