At last, the long-rumored Twitter music app it out and not only as an iPhone app but even for the web.

Yesterday, in a blog post Twitter announced about the launch of it's music app called 'Twitter #music'. According to the post, "Today, we're releasing Twitter #music, a new service that will change the way people find music, based on Twitter. It uses Twitter activity, including Tweets and engagement, to detect and surface the most popular tracks and emerging artists."

This app is just like how everyone imagined it. It helps users discover music, play it and share it.

Well, as per the rumors the app was expected to have four tabs but instead there are five tabs - Popular (New Music trending on Twitter), Emerging (Hidden talent found in the Tweets), Suggested (Artists you might like), #NowPlaying (Tweeted by people you follow) and Me (Artists you follow).

Users can easily search for music from their favorite artists within the app. The app also shares all the music-related activity of the artists that the user follows on Twitter.

The app encourages instant sharing: you can tweet what you're listening to directly from the Player screen.

Currently, the songs on this app come from three sources - iTunes, Spotify or Rdio (No SoundCloud for now). However, while you're exploring the music within the app, you'll hear previews from iTunes; in order to hear the full song you'll need a Rdio or Spotify subscription. Twitter is working on adding other music service providers.

The iPhone app can be easily downloaded from the App Store and is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad. Requires iOS 6.0 or later.

As of now, this service is only available in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. With time it'll be available in more countries and for Android users as well.

"Twitter and music go great together. People share and discover new songs and albums every day. Many of the most-followed accounts on Twitter are musicians, and half of all users follow at least one musician. This is why artists turn to Twitter first to connect with their fans — and why we wanted to find a way to surface songs people are tweeting about", Twitter further shared on the blog.

The music fraternity is already loving this app, what about you? Have you taken the Twitter #music app for spin yet? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
