So keeping aside the technical metrics involved, it makes one wonder what separates a popular and a mediocre Page on Facebook; because there sure are dozens of pages on the same topic and interests available.
Being a social media Junkie, I stumble upon wonderful pages everyday. The content is good mostly, its informative or else there some serious humor mongering for grabs! Well that's what I hunt for.
Coming to serious business here, most companies hire social media strategists specifically to keep track on this count. That is to say, how to up the traction on your social media sites by standing out in a pool of like-minded Ostrich's and look different, not dumb.
Today we concentrate on Facebook alone.
The fascinating thing about human tendency, despite loads of philosopical clammer about beauty not being skin deep, first look is indeed important. For most it can be the profile picture or a funky page name. If you are into eCommerce all the more is the charm.
So basically one can dabble around with the font of their Facebook page creatively to grab the eyeballs of an audience that is few & far.
Now here's the difficult part. Technically, Facebook doesn't allow users to change the fonts. Existing Facebook pages are not allowed to alter their font styles with 200 or more Page "likes". A strange number indeed!
But no need to be disappointed for those who have not still begun. You still have the scope to take caution before entering the fray.
One can use Unicode Characters, special symbols easily accessible through the keyboard to bring out a change. Besides that an old style formula is to use text generators or the more savvy cut-copy-paste of Javascript codes. Adding to this, there are a hidden trove of apps and functions available to users to enable customization of your Page, just your way. There are so many fun fonts that can be played around with that many of us didn't know exist.
See, where there's a will, there are a lot many ways!
We just did some R&D to help out. Follow these simple steps for a funky Facebook Page; adding that touch of creativity is, well, left to you after that. Best of luck to our beginners.
1. Go to the "Start" button on your system, select "Programs" and navigate to "Accessories" and "System Tools".
2. Navigate to the "Character Maps" to select your favorite Unicode font from the scroll-down list.
3. Select the appropriate characters you want to use to alter the username. Having completed the step, simply click on the "Copy "button to proceed to log into your Facebook Account.
4. In your Facebook page, on the upper right hand side, go to "Edit Page" and scroll down to select "Update Info". Navigate to the "Name" tab.
5. Use command "Ctrl+V" in the name bar to paste the the new font. Remember to save your edits before looking at the preview.
Having done that, a word of serious advise. There is a difference between the "Name" and "Username" of the Facebook Page . The above mentioned steps are valid for dabbling with the "Name" of your page i.e the name you want the page to be known and seen as.
However when it comes to making changes in the "Username", the steps are a little different and lot more simpler. This change is quite guarded and may not always satisfy you. Why?
After navigating to the Edit Page > Update Info > Username > Change username. A new pop up message appears with the current username and a empty type bar for the new username you want. After writing the name you want, click on "Check Availability".
In the case of business pages especially, the concern for privacy and assurance that the brand is genuine, the concerns are manifold. The Facebook Team has a few must follow guidelines and a Statement of Rights and Responsibilities.
Do try these simple steps and let us know if it made any difference to your Page traffic or ratings.
