In an event only for developers that was held last night in San Francisco, Twitter shared some interesting updates, that's surely going to take our Twitter experience to another level.

In order to help users to make their content easily available and more attractive, Twitter has added three new types of Twitter Cards with mobile app deep-linking, a new way to allow users to view content within an app.

In a blog post by Jason Costa, the Head of Platform at Twitter, he described mobile app deep-linking in Cards as "a new feature that closes the loop between content creation, content discovery and app downloads. With mobile app deep-linking, users will be able to tap a link to either view content directly in your app, or download your app, depending on whether or not they have your app installed".

This new feature would enable users to view a particular content from a tweet through the publisher-specified app or would be provided a link to download the app.

Here's how tweets now would look like:

Now coming on the three types of new Twitter Cards introduced!

The three types of cards are:
  1. App Cards: These type of cards will show information about an app like its name, icon, details and other related information like the price and rating. This information would be directly from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Product Cards: As the name suggests, the product card represent products by displaying their image along with a description. You can add two more customizable fields like displaying more details about the product like price and rating, whatever you require.
  3. Gallery Cards: Gallery cards show an album or a collection of photographs via preview of the photo gallery.
Earlier, Twitter introduced three types of Twitter Cards - SummaryPhoto and Player/Video but since the users wanted to be able to share different types of content therefore, these new types of cards have been introduced.

Costa further added, "The new Cards system lays a foundation that will make it easier for us to develop more types of Cards in the future and allow for greater customization by publishers and developers."

The current Card partner list includes brands like Etsy, Flickr, Foursquare, Path, Rovio's Angry Birds, SoundCloud, Storenvy, Vine, etc.
