Well this Guccifer stands by his name completely.
A latest on the hacking circuit, this unknown person is gaining a foothold into the e-mails of America's political elite, secretly. So that makes him a bad guy ?
Well we'll get to that in the end after perusing his exploits on the web.
For starts, Guccifer is said to have released confidential diplomatic missives between Sidney Blumenthal and Hillary Clinton "regarding the September 11, 2012 attacks on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya". To top it all, the released mails Comic Sans font to add that touch of parody.
Added to Clinton's mails, he has also hacked into family and friends members of former President George W.Bush, to expose personal paintings and conversations. Guccifer poised as Colin Powell launched anti-Bush screeds.
According to The Smoking Gun, "In e-mail screeds, "Guccifer" seems to subscribe to dark conspiracies involving the Federal Reserve, the Council on Foreign Relations, and attendees of Bohemian Grove retreats. "the evil is leading this fucked up world!!!!!! i tell you this the world of tomorrow will be a world free of illuminati or will be no more," the hacker declared."
Like any other hacking incident that have been going on for the year and half, Guccifer is no hacktivist. The string of incidents hark more like a small time expose act or else a personal revenge mission.
As the tabloids report, Guccifer has no clear cut agenda behind these hacks. It is a progression from one politico to another, much like a domino style gig that black hat SEO's love to indulge in.
With not much of a history to his credits so far, this unknown Guccifer character made a comment to The Smoking Gun saying "I have an old game with the fucking bastards inside, this is just another chapter in the game".
So now that the beans have been spilled neat and clean, the bottomline is that the hacking is becoming more and more activism-oriented. But in this case, the hack is not too good to champion. It has the hues of personal antagonism rather than a public good.
Its best to take precautions. Keep your important conversations guarded. And beware of Guccifer!
