The Gen Y is an archetypal techno slave. But instead of acknowledging the depravity of the situation , we use a more savvy term for this - being socially committed or rather technologically updated! Well that has a negative tone no doubt because over- riding your limits with anything is so not good.

In some sense these terms do paraphrase the addiction we all have but does not talk of how all of us have imbibed technology into our social etiquette, most prominently in our postures.

In an interesting study about the interconnectivity between technology and human behavior, a group of stimulating artists from the Art Center College of Design- Nicolas Nova, Katherine Miyake, Nancy Kwon, Walton Chiu, have come up with an ebook titled "Curious Rituals" that observes this bizarre and unconscious set of actions. While it certainly has an academic edge to it but we advise our readers to not delve into that aspect just yet.

One of the researchers, Nicholas shares that he spent 5 years at Near Future Labratory to study the "gesture interfaces" as respondents worked around laptops and VR goggles. The five year study reveals startling commonality in huuman posture i.e the way people act while moving out of a grocery store or say responding to a clerk behind the desk. The tell tale postures parallel the gestures imbibed in the process of using gadgets.

Th ebook is illustrated by Katherine Miyake beautifully with spot-on resembles in the "digital/social gestures".
