Colorado-based Andy Schulman of the Afterglow studio works magic with "relics awaiting new lives" to create things that are sure to illuminate your environs. His endeavor, as he proclaims himself is that "I love and respect old things with history, character and that were built to last. They may be useless or dirty, but...I want to tell a new story with them." When his words sound so illuminating, his art is but an extension of his thoughts we believe.
This kind of art adds meaning to a lot of things; its not art for arts sake only. With the world increasingly becoming aware of waste management and optimally utilizing the available resources, Andy's work is a great gesture in this regard. Its purposeful, creative and earns him a many a laurels too.
Besides coming up with personalized, single creative pieces; mostly chandeliers and table lamps, Andy's installations have been highly acclaimed publicly. In fact in November 2012, his latest installation-a 12ft x 7ft mural and 52" chandelier- titled as "Out of Darkness, Into the Light" was awarded the Julie Mayer Award. This is supposed to be the highest recognition accorded by the Anaheim Arts Council for Art displays in public places.
We bring here some of his creations from the "One-of-a-kind" collection, that includes a melee of recycled stuff that's been transformed into chandeliers and side lamps. Check out this "Illuminating Art".
