Today we would like to share those articles that were most popular among our readers. It's an assortment of best of art, tech, ebooks, top blogs and a whole lot of bizarrely creative stuff.
Have a look:
Massive Fish Sculpture Made from Discarded Plastic Bottles
On 19th June, in Rio an enormous sculpture was built at Botafogo beach. The city is the host to UN Conference on Sustainable Development and this sculpture is perfectly symbolic to the event.
Ditology: Thumb Portraits of Famous People
Dito von Tease who has taken our childhood joy of "finger puppetry" to a whole new level; he likes to call it 'Ditology'. ('Dito' is Italian for 'finger')
He has beautifully created portraits of well known personalities and fictional characters on human fingers. Of course, the images have been digitally manipulated and Tease has done a wonderful job in detailing these portraits and bringing a smile to our face. :)
"Smoking Kids" is quite a dramatic project by photographer, Frieke Janssens who drew inspiration for this project from a YouTube video featuring an Indonesian toddler outrageously smoking 40 cigarettes a day. She believes that looking at portraits of children puffing away will have a larger impact on people. She wants to draw attention solely on the act of smoking.
It's not just the humor that makes their lessons more interesting, it's their innocent and simple outlook towards the world and life, that we adults often tend to ignore.
Bill Watterson, the iconic illustrator of Calvin & Hobbes has been inspiring us to look at the journey called life, relationships, our jobs, our family and the world around us a lot differently, and perhaps in its own silly way, more clearly.
'Text From Dog', is a new Tumblr blog that shares witty dialogues between a dog and its owner. The creator of this blog @OctoberJones does not share information about himself, but has certainly left many of us smiling. "My dog sends me texts. I post them here. Yeah. It's weird." he shares on his Tumblr blog.
I have always believed that talent is like water, it always manages to find its way around and can not remain hidden for long and there is no better example than 'The Piano Guys'.
The group then started uploading a video on YouTube every week and like I said, true talent always receives its spotlight; within no time, their videos received millions of views. In June last year, they received maximum number of votes in a poll conducted by YouTube, for which they were on the homepage spotlight for an entire day. They received so much of appreciation and love from all over the world, that by March 18, 2012, The Piano Guys YouTube channel became the top 300 channel world-wide. Their first album (both digital and CD) was released in December 2011 and they call it YouTube Hits Vol 1.
New-York based photographer, Martin Schoeller has a unique (and refreshing) photography style...or dare I say, "out-of-the-box" style.
He has been the staff photographer with The New Yorker and has had his work published in magazines like The Rolling Stone, Vogue and Vanity Fair.
What I personally like about him is his bizarre sense of humour. Whatever he says be it about science or life or technological stuff never sounds boring or geeky; in fact, makes it more interesting and in one way or the other his words make sense. I would love to share some of his quotes from The Big Bang Theory.
An eBook that brings information and resources required to publish an eBook. It brings us immense pleasure to bring you an eBook about eBook. A free resource where you will find 11 authors sharing their wisdom on all you need to know about publishing your first eBook.
eBook publishing is definitely no child's play, although it's easier than commonly perceived but includes various stages that one needs to pass.
But if you are anything like me, and find the geek in yourself to be way more romantic, then you should not miss out on this collection of adorably nerdy Valentine's day cards.
You will find Star wars in there, Marvel comics characters along with nostalgic games like Tetris and of course innuendos that geeks like you and me will understand (and appreciate).
Dependence on mobile devices and social media has both positive and negative impacts on learning.
Technology has blended in with daily activity to become a way of everyday life for college and university-aged students to the point where they often take for granted the automated, instantaneous delivery of information. The college students of today live in a world where they take advantage of online learning opportunities vs. being stuck in a classroom, they opt for an online textbook rental for their math course over an expensive printed version from the campus bookstore, and they put together and deliver group projects without ever coming face-to-face with their classmates.
I have to admit that memes have introduced a whole new platform for people to play with creativity combined with interesting sense of humor. Recently, I came across a series of memes called "What I Really Do" and I couldn't resist sharing it E-junkie.info readers. An hilarious take on every kind of profession that you can think of. They are basically visual charts depicting how different people in your life have preconceived notions about your job. Check them out below and see if you can find your occupation in there.
Rather than visiting big-shot websites who lack genuine human interaction, I should learn from those who actually leave their computers and step out in the garden. Those who are passionate about gardening and nature. Those who have built an inspiring community of green thumbs, and share all that they've learnt through beautiful images, sensible tips, motivating articles and most importantly their sheer love for nature and its joyful mysteries.
Over the past few days, these bloggers have played a major role in keeping my love for gardening alive.
Someecards.com is a free online e-card service created by Brook Lundy and Duncan Mitchell. The best part about these cards is they are filled with sarcasm and below the belt humor. Cards for all occasions are available on the website, from the most important to the most pointless. Share them across your social network with your friends, e-mail them to your colleagues, make posters from them, print them on your t-shirt; do whatever you can think of with these e-cards. But before you get started check out my favorite someecards.
