‘Bulging’ touch screen:
Since the introduction of touch screen on mobile phones, many users have complained that they miss the feeling of pressing the buttons. Keeping this thing in mind, the company known as Tactus Technology has started working on a project that will enable mobile users to get the sensation of pressing the buttons on their touch screen.
The company has shown a prototype tablet using their latest technology which was able to make buttons appear and disappear. The working behind this is very complicated and involves a liquid that is pumped below the screen to give it a feeling of a keyboard. This keyboard can be accessed by the user and they will disappear once they are no longer needed by the user. The best part of this screen is that it has the same thickness as compared to any other touch screen.
The company also says that once it is finished with the technology, the screen can used on any latest touch screen mobile simply by replacing the old screen with this new touch screen.
A smarter touch screen:
In another research carried out by Disney Research Centre and Carnegie Mellon University, a touch screen is being developed that will change the concept of touch screen altogether. This technology called Touché will be more intelligent in numerous ways. For example, it can sense how it is being touched, whether it is being pinched, pushed or pinched. Furthermore, it can also sense which item is touching it, whether it is human touch or other touch.
The way how Touché works is similar to how normal touch screen work, however it can sense a wider range of frequencies. In case of simple touch screen, it senses only two frequencies, touch and no touch, but Touché sense other frequencies like being pushed and being touched by more than one finger.
Users of touch screen mobile phone complain about the accuracy of their touch screen. This is because of the small surface area mobile phones have. If this technology works properly, then there are various ways in which it can be used, for example, it can be used on a wider surface like study table etc and this increase in surface area will enable you to work with lesser difficulty.
