Even if you are not a geek, these sounds are bound to make you nostalgic. Brendan Chilcutt, is one of those who likes to archive such endangered sounds.
Museum of Endangered Sounds is a website where you can find online archive of sounds from old technologies.
This is what Brendan Chilcutt has to say about his website:
"Imagine a world where we never again hear the symphonic startup of a Windows 95 machine. Imagine generations of children unacquainted with the chattering of angels lodged deep within the recesses of an old cathode ray tube TV. And when the entire world has adopted devices with sleek, silent touch interfaces, where will we turn for the sound of fingers striking QWERTY keypads? Tell me that. And tell me: Who will play my GameBoy when I'm gone?
These questions and more led me to the undertaking that is The Museum Of Endangered Sounds."
Brendan is a man with a plan, he intends to complete the data collection of such sounds by 2015, and spend about 7 years developing the proper markup language to interpret the sounds as binary composition for future generations. Pretty impressive 'eh!
So head over to The Museum of Endangered Sounds to revisit those old days, when a 56K Modem seemed like a luxury.
Who will play my GameBoy when I'm gone?
These questions and more led me to the undertaking that is The Museum Of Endangered Sounds."
