Qamar Hashim is an inspiring prodigy from Iraq, who's managed to rack up several awards at a tender age of 8. He is the youngest certified photographer in Iraq, who has had his work displayed in several exhibitions in Baghdad. He hopes that some day his name will appear in the Guinness Book of World Record.

His father, who is a photo journalist realized that his kid has a talent for art and photography. Qamar was hardly four-years-old when his father handed over a film-based camera to him.

Then one day when Qamar's father took him to a cultural festival, he noticed Qamar imitating him and confidently taking pictures like any professional photographer. It's not just his photography that showcases his impressive maturity, when asked about the importance of photography, this is what this 8-year-old kid had to say: "Photography is very important. It documents life and pauses time".

Amazed by his knowledge and natural talent, Qamar's father took him to the Iraqi Society of Photography. They instantly recognized an artist in the making, and offered him honorary membership; he was sworn in by the Governor of Baghdad. One of the officials also gifted him his very first digital camera, since that day, Qamar has never been seen without his camera.

When asked about his favorite picture in an interview with Reuters, here's what he had to say: "My favorite picture is of a man sleeping who sells books at al-Mutanabi street. Also a picture of a bee on a rose, I ran a lot to follow the bee until I got this picture."

Qamar's ambition is to become an actor and a child-activist when he grows up and hopes for a flourishing future for Iraq and his family. "I want to say through my pictures that Iraq is precious and Iraqis are very kind. Iraq is peaceful and has a great history." shares Qamar.
