As my on-line information business is continuing to grow, I am starting to see a recurring question, time and time again:

"How Do I Get More Traffic?..."

Since 2008, I've concentrated on publishing high quality content, some entertaining and some very informative and educational. What I've found is that the entertaining stuff gets the high volume views and links and the informative stuff is attracting emails and client work. It's a pretty successful mix as I get to have my logo "A Sitting Duck" on thousands of pages on the internet with a viral knock on effect and in turn it gets people to search for the website on Google.

It's really unnatural to give away all your hard work, and yes lots of my stuff has been copied and stolen. Most of the videos are a direct copy though, so even though we lose out on advert revenue, it saves a fortune in us paying for visitors!. There is one thing I've found out though:

"The More Stuff I Publish For Free The Safer My On-line Business Becomes"

That is the secret to the traffic game and the bloggers that have published free high quality information in the widest variety of formats have won the most regular readers and when it does come to the checkout basket the resistance drops because the 1% that do buy will be more than happy to spend their cash on a business that has provided stacks of free stuff upfront.

There is a downside and many marketing products do not go into detail about this because it affects their sales. The downside to giving away stacks of free stuff is that it is very time consuming and it feels like a massive gamble because you're essentially working for free for what could be a whole year maybe more!, I know some bloggers that have been working for 5 years and still haven't seen any sales. Although when I checked their blog there is not that much content on there and no community. If they left the stats page and networking for a while they could concentrate on making good stuff, week after week for a whole year and then open up the tills for the following year!.

How much should you produce for free is down to you, only till you see what really happens when you give 100% effort literally to give it away for free will you see how cool this strategy is. If you have made a start on free stuff marketing, it would be cool to see what you've achieved in the comments.
