It's almost weekend! Hope most of you have your weekend party plans in place. Most of my Saturday nights turn out to be a blast, but on Sunday's it's like last night never happened. I wake up with one question...what the f*#% happened Last Night...? No matter how hard I try, I really can't put the pieces of together. How I wish that my smartphone had a solution to it, since it's always by my side.
Finally, my prayers were answered when I came across this much needed and wonderful app called 'Last Night...'?' by Zombie Processus.
The app keeps a record of your daily movements; saving your location, speed, battery level and other details. It lets you check the places you visited and answers many questions that you often ask yourself.
How does it work? First of all, the app works in background too. Once the app is launched, it starts looking for a first GPS position automatically and starts tracking your movements. The app then saves your location every 60 seconds but only if you've moved 70 meters away from the last location recorded. The data is then presented to you in a table format which has three tabs.
Please Note:
"Last Night" has been recently upgraded to version 2.0. You can learn about all the latest updates at the bottom of this article.
The first tab showing you the map displaying the locations with your speed and timestamp. The second tab has a general view of the map showing the recorded route. You can zoom in/zoom out and check your speed and timestamp for each location. In the third tab, it has some miscellaneous info like latitude, longitude, your recorded speed, the distance covered, time elapsed since the last saved location and battery left.
In my view, the app uses a pretty decent concept. Even though we call it 'Last Night....?' but it can be used for a number of events that happen in daytime also. It is a great app for travelers keeping a track on their each important activity. You can even e-mail yourself the data in an XML format. For example, you'd like to show your friend where you traveled, for how much time, or in simple words, how you spent your day or week or a month. It requires iOS 4.0 or later and costs $1.99 in U.S and priced accordingly in other areas. Available worldwide, you can buy the app from Apple's iTunes Store. Last Night...? is available in French as well.
It is available for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
The app, for now, is in its first version. By the time, the developer claims to update the features saying "I will include other improvements in future, For example, the app goes into pause mode after the user has stopped for 10 minutes and back to dynamic mode when it detects the user has changed cell towers. This can take a few hundred meters. In future updates, the user will be able to choose if he wants to enable the pause mode or not".
The whole drama in Hangover movie would have lasted not more than 15 minutes if they'd ever thought about using this app!

Latest Updates (Version 2.0)
Here are the major updates in the Last Night's 2.0 version:
- A new redesigned interface with smoother colours and a clearer Option view (as you can see in the screenshots below).
- Getting the user's location is more accurate than before: the distance between 2 location records adapts dynamically to the user's speed; resulting in more precise maps.
- The app can detect when a user has entered a building and avoids recording weird data.
- The time between records is now displayed in terms of hours:minutes:seconds instead of only seconds.
- Languages available have been extended from English and French to English, French, Spanish and Catalan.
And this is not all of it, Jonathan Neumann, the founder of this app already has future plans for 'Last Night' in place. Here's what he plans to do:
- A redesign of the way the routes are displayed.
- The user's data will be made available in GPX format rather than in XML, so that he/she can feed the data into one of the many GPX-enabled websites and check his/her route again.
So, if you wanna save yourself from the mysteries of Sunday mornings and that mind boggling routine of tracing those minute details of last night, then head over to iTunes to download this app and make your life simpler and perhaps less embarrassing.
Update: Seems like this app is currently not working. We'd update you as soon as we get a word about this app or in case you have any information in regards to this app, feel free to drop in a line.

i bought this app about a week ago and i've just one word to say: AWESOME!
nice guys'... :)
Interesting app - this could probably be used for other uses as well. I know how hard developing an app like this can be. As an app developer myself I have been just finishing up my app and will be looking for funding. To get the funding I need I want to be in front of investors so I will be heading to The App Show in San Diego, Ca.(www.theappshow.org). They have speed meetings and that is exactly what I am looking for!
