ArtStormer is a very engaging blog by Betsy Wills where you'll find a variety of contemporary artworks by different artists worldwide. That is why I call it nucleus of artworks that will not only hook you up for a good amount of time but also entertains you at its best.
One of the best features of this blog is the neat interface it has. It is easy and hassle free to surf through it; giving you no reason to leave the blog. And of course, the variety in the featured Artworks is a great turn on.
Keeping the concept simple, Betsy features one artist per day including painting, sculpture, drawings, and kinetic pieces.
Betsy is as passionate for Arts as we are at E-junkie. So here we get a chance to learn more about her and her wonderful blog over a cup of coffee:
Betsy, please introduce yourself to E-junkies.
Like many people I work in a profession (finance) that is unrelated to my avocations (writing and the fine arts). I'm a wife, mother of two teenagers, and volunteer in my community.
Tell us about your wonderful blog 'Artstormer'. What is it all about?
Artstormer is designed to bring "flash storms" of art to the visually addicted. My observation of design magazines and blogs is that they are largely focused on fabric and furniture. Art is an afterthought, mainly because it is so personal. My hope is to present emerging and contemporary art to people who may not have considered it accessible.
What inspired you to start blogging? We would love to know about your blog's inception.
For years I collected websites and links to young artists who I admired. I really needed some way to organize my files and thought that blogging might be just the right repository. Over a weekend I navigated Wordpress and just started! Keeping my commentary brief and breezy had helped me to sustain the effort. I stay clear of critiquing the art or the artist but only feature works that I would own myself. In looking through my posts, it appears I have a broad range of tastes.
How has been your blogging experience so far? Has it influenced you personally and/or professionally in any way?
Personally it has influenced me a great deal. As my audience has grown, I realize that keeping my posts varied and in a sense "curated" is the most difficult aspect. Professionally it has honed my writing skills as I am conscious of being precise. I am also surprised at the reactions I get from people who did not know me prior to the blog....they want to make me an "expert". All I am is curious with a little bit of nerve mixed in...
Since you publish 'Arts' on your blog, we would like to know your perception of 'Arts'.
Art is everywhere, and it doesn't have to match the sofa.
Let's have a rapid fire:
5 things you can't live without?
My family, 3 inch heels, toothbrush, iphone, birds
1 blogging tool you can't do without?
Stumbleupon
One blog you always enjoy stumbling?
ifitshipitshere.com
Your favorite thing about blogging?
Featuring emerging artists
1 thing you could change about blogging?
I wish it were easier to find other blogs like mine and share ideas
What promotional methods do you use to spread the word about your blog? And which one of them has been the most fruitful?
Materialicious, Facebook, Linkedin, Stumbleupon, and now Pinterest are all equally fruitful
What are your dreams/vision for 'Artstormer'?
I'd love to feature an artist who remembers me after they have become famous
Share your fondest memory with 'Artstormer'.
Getting a thank you from an established artist who enjoyed reading my post
What message do you have for our readers?
Send me your best "undiscovered" artists! My email is artstormer1@gmail.com . And mention that you found me on E-junkie!
