I encountered these wonderful portraits made out of a material which we think is just a waste and is of no use. But I am happy to be proved wrong by Kyle Bean, the talented artist and crafter behind creating this series of pencil shaving portraits. We have already featured his intricate chicken sculptures from egg shells and everything he creates is just awesome.
This project is a result of having been asked to work on the contributors page for the 'Handmade Issue' of Wallpaper.
"I have created the portraits from different coloured pencil shavings. I am also working on a short time-lapse film showing the process of making one of the portraits which you will be able to see on the Wallpaper* Ipad app when the issue comes out", is what Kyle has to share about this stunning craft work.

Pencil shaving used to make paintings, this is unbelievable. Who would think of it? Kyle Bean has made an amazing thing.
DIFFERENT & INTERESTING....to say the least. Iadmire the kind of mind that could come up with this kind of "abstract" idea. Recognisable objects yet done in a VERY unique manner. FANTASTIC! We lok around us, we see, but yet are blind to posibilities.
Very nicely put Engee, there are endless possibilities all around us, but few creatives are able to make the most out of it.
