Chow Hon Lam aka Flying Mouse has an extra creative bone that makes him design such hilarious and witty designs. His designs are so addictive that once you start browsing in his shop and you will keep on looking for something better and better and believe me guys, with each click, you"ll find something better!

Chow is a creative Tee Designer based in Malaysia. He took up a very challenging project called Flying Mouse 365 that calls for a 'new design every day for the whole one year'. It may sound easy but actually it is not. It requires all your input; mentally as well as physically!

The design on the left is just the tip of the iceberg and it impressed me the most. If you're looking out for some change in your wardrobe, then I would recommend you to have a look at his designs and I am sure you'd definitely fall in love with them. I got to know some really cool things about him and his project. We are thrilled to have him on our blog. Catch his interview below and find some of his best designs:

Hon, please introduce yourself to E-junkies.

Hi E-junkies! I'm a tee-shirt designer from Malaysia, people usually called me Flying Mouse, sees tee as a medium through which stories are told. I just completed my personal project called Flying Mouse 365, which is create 1 design a day, 365 designs a year.

I am currently working on designs in collaboration with some clients like AirAsia, Nike, Lotus F1, MARTELL VSOP, KLUE, Arty Walrus, and Dave Matthews Band.

Your designs are hilarious! What tickles the creative side in you?

I believe everything has a story, a chair, a watermelon, a cloud, or a pussy cat. I always think that they have something to say, but just can't speak, so I just try to say what they want to but can't.

What is the story behind choosing 'Flying Mouse' as the name of your project?

The name of Flying Mouse is inspired by one of my childhood favorite cartoons, "Mighty Mouse", he is a mouse that can fly. I used the name of Flying Mouse instead of Mighty Mouse to avoid copyright issues. This cartoon brought me a lot of happy moments and smiles in my childhood, I hope my designs can bring some smile to people too.

You create one design a day.. that's commendable! Do you face any challenge(s) in doing it?

Yes, it is a really challenging project. I have to come out with one design a day for the whole year. The biggest challenge is "think" and "draw" the design in a same day, the running time always made me panic, it happened to me in the first few months of the project. After a few months, I overcame it. Sometimes, I used to spend some time to think about an extra idea everyday, just in case I can't come  up with any idea the next day, I still can draw the idea that I noted in my sketch book.

What is the working process involved in creating designs? How do you conceive the idea of a particular design?

First is idea, then research. Research is the most important part to me.  After the research is complete, I draw a rough sketch in Adobe Illustrator. I do not sketch on paper. After sketch, the ink and color will be done in Adobe Illustrator too. Sometimes, I use Photoshop to get a particular texture.

When did you start designing tees? Can you recall any incident that made you realize you're meant to be a superb designer?

I started designing tees in year 2007. I never realized that I can be a designer until I submitted first Tee just for fun and pocket money. The outcome was totally unexpected.

Yes, my personal fave is "I Got Another Whale", printed by Threadless.

Now that your designs are so famous..are you thinking on expanding your product line?

Thank you. Yes, I have just collaborated with a PARIS wall decals company. Hopefully, we have more interesting products in the near future.

Share the best compliment you've ever received for your designs.

"I want to buy this design for my whole family."

What do you do in free time? What are the other things that interest you?

Food and sleep. LOL.

What are your views on E-commerce?

It is very different from traditional business. In traditional business, we need to spend a lot of "Money”. For E-commerce, we need to spend a lot of "Time", e.g on social networking, forum etc.

Many of our readers and business owners would draw inspiration from you. What message do you have for them?

Just keep looking exposure as much as you can, and don't let people forget about you.
