For those of you who have been waiting for the Facebook news reader here is a good news for you, Facebook has finally announced its launch. I know the wait was long but it seems like it was worth waiting for.
This is no regular reader app but is a standalone app called Paper that takes content from the Facebook network and turns it into a newspaper-style platform.
The app would be first available to the iPhone users in the US on February 3rd.
This app is the hard work of a group of fifteen people at Facebook known as Facebook Creative Labs.
You'll find two types of content on this app -
1. Content that has been shared a lot or has tonnes of 'like', which would be picked algorithmically.
2. Content that the editors think deserves to be highlighted.
The app would pick up random public content like updates or photos posted by any user (which is problem).
You'll find news content of all categories like food, science, sports, international and more. The top half of the app shows photos and videos and the bottom features status updates and links to other stories. You can easily browse through the app with simple, natural movements. The stories will appear fullscreen and users can tilt their phones to explore vivid high-resolution photos.
You can also post your own content and choose how you want your story to be displayed.
