While everyone around is all excited and talking about Amazon 'Prime Air' and how it's going to revolutionize the how delivering packages and other things related to it, there are a lot of people who are pretty apprehensive about this new technology.
And why not?
It sounds so sci-fi and just like the Google Glass, Samsung's Galaxy Gear and all those existing gadgets of tomorrow have tiny flaws here and there so is this new technology but the good thing here is that good guy Amazon didn't blindly start using this new delivery system instead choose to experiment it for four to five years before finally start using it.
Well, if you ask me when the Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos revealed in an interview with '60 Minutes' that the company is experimenting delivering packages via drones I was left awestruck but on further thinking receiving a drone delivery by Amazon would be really awkward; it may be fast and easy but no drone can replace a human smile.
According to what Bezos shared, whenever a customer places an order with Amazon and selects the drone delivery option, his package is picked up from the Amazon's warehouse and is flown to him via the drone. The catch here the customer has to live within 10 miles from the Amazon warehouse, so this technology is likely to be used in the urban areas only.
These drones are just like the huge toy planes that kids love but instead of being controlled by remote are fully robotic and find the delivery location using GPS. The drones won't deliver packages of size and weight, in fact they can only carry packages up to five pounds (which includes 86% of the items that the company delivers) and would do delivery within 30 minutes.
Not only is Amazon right now experimenting and trying its best to make glitch free drones but is also waiting for the FAA's approval.
We know that this technology is not going to come out any time soon but is anyways a hot topic of discussion almost everywhere. And as perfect as the drone idea sounds there are still a lot of unanswered questions popping up in everyone's mind, like:
As every dark cloud has a silver lining so does this new technology. This new delivery system is going to save Amazon millions on shipping and is any day better than polluting the environment by the huge delivery vans.

As of now all that we can do is discuss and debate on this new technology unless Amazon talks more in detail about the drones and deciding its fate even before the drone army is out delivering packages is not justified. So lets talk!

- How efficient is the Amazon drone army going to be when it comes to delivering packages?
- What if a drone falls on someone head?
- Why drones to deliver packages and what would happen to the employees who would be replaced by the drones?
- What if someone steals my package by shooting at the drone? How would Amazon secure its drone army?
- What about cities with tall buildings? How are the drones going to manage their way?
- Why only delivering packages within 10 miles? Why not use these drones to deliver packages to far off places as well, the folks in Amazon can obviously figure out something?
