Driving alone, tired, no one to switch turns with and on top of that feeling sleepy - have to reach somewhere as soon as possible and can't check into a motel. In such a situation things are likely to go wrong. Let's not talk about what might happen but let's talk about ways to avoid such a situation.

Here's a new app called Drive Away that doesn't lets drivers fall asleep while driving. Thus, preventing road accidents.

This app has been developed by a Thailand-based company called  Café Amazon.

Café Amazon is the largest coffee chain in Thailand and known as the traveler's buddy with 650 coffee stops at gas stations nationwide, helping to keep travelers and drivers fresh and awake during their journeys.

Working with BBDO Proximity, Cafe Amazon has created this iOS app that monitors drivers for signs of sleepiness and the moment it detects that the driver is nodding off, it guides them to the nearest cafe for a quick caffeine dose.

Once you download this app on your iOS device, you need to mount it on your vehicle's windshield so that the device faces your face and can monitor it. Like this -

The moment the app detects that you're nodding off it plays a loud screeching parrot sound, that pulls you out of sleep. And the app then directs you to the nearest cafe.

This app is your best buddy for road trips and hence, is a must download.

Drive Awake is a free app and is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad. Requires iOS 5.0 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.

You can download it from here.

I think its built into some really expensive luxury cars too. But more and more cars have advanced computers in them now, such as "lane assist" and radar-based cruise control, so I think something like this will quickly become an optional feature built-in to a lot of cars.

I think that is a great! In between the motels in Calgary, this can come in handy.

Doesn't work. Just activated it sitting on my couch, analyzed my face and then said I was driving sleepy. And to boot told me there was none of their coffee shops here in Canada!
