After the launch of iPhone 5, that just happened like a week ago, all we wanted Apple to do was to update its OS with some amazing features and yes it did. Now we have an improved Siri, Facebook integration,  Full screen Safari, FaceTime usage over cellular networks, the new Apple Maps app etc.

Surprisingly, for the first time ever Apple has removed a software, that it had for long kept with itself since the launch of the iPhone in 2007 - Google Maps and came up with its own built-in map app.


So did you try the iOS Maps, yet? If you have and are totally irked by it, then I guess you are not alone. Just after it's launch, this app faced a lot of resentment from the users. Several users ended up going to the wrong address or couldn't locate a particular address on the map.

The world just got flat or the Eiffel tower fell flat on the ground, the Howrah Bridge in India shifted to the land, a farm house just became an airport, roads just ending in the middle of nowhere, dead ends and what not. A lot of information is missing from the maps, there are many geographical errors, this app also lacks the public transit directions and traffic data.

Launching this new app was a major initiative for Apple and a well planned blow to Google but just like what this app did to the Eiffel Tower, this app fell flat on it's face and Google Maps just got more popular.
