Minjae Lee is a 23 year old Seoul, South Korea based artist who creates beautiful and bold illustrations with ethereal beauty. But some of his illustrations can be a bit disturbing, as well - Gothic, if you will.

He is mostly a self taught artist who practices a traditional form of art and has experimented with several mediums of creating art such as pencil, marker, acrylic and digital , but his favourite medium is COPIC markers.

He has constantly evolved himself as an artist and continues to improve on his skills. He mainly concentrates on the female form but is not afraid of  venturing into other themes for his illustrations. The illustrations of the female faces he has done have a huge range of colors and are very detailed. We are glad we got a chance to interview this unique artist. Catch the interview below:

What influences the artist within you?

Everything influences me. From nature, to imagery, to people.

How would you describe your style? What message do you intend to convey through your creations?

I try to convey what I'm feeling at the time.

What tools do you use to make your creations look amazing?

COPIC pens are the best.

Which illustration by you is closest to your heart? (come on, you have to pick one) ;)

It is whatever piece I'm working on at the time.

Share the best compliment you've ever received for your work.

I would rather not, as I do not like to influence how others see my work. Two people may look at the same thing, but anything you tell them, anything in their experiences in life affects how we view things.

Many other artists would look up to you for inspiration. What message do you have for them?

Create art for you. Do no give up. Some people will like, some people will love, but the main thing is to do it for you and to grow and develop as an artist.

Thank you Minjae for taking the time for this interview, we are big fans of your work and wish you the very best for the future.
