Windows 8 tablet was shown at CES and this tablet is the one that’s using dual-core ‘Clover Trial’ which is Intel’s next generation Atom chip. Intel will have a tough year in 2012 which is shaping up to become a real tough difficult year for Intel than expected. Well ahead of the launch of windows 8, second half of the concerned year is expected to be weak. It’s known that Intel has been traditionally benefiting from Microsoft operating system upgrade cycles. Not just the companies but the customers too are into buying Intel based PCs along with the all new OS. But thanks to the promise made for the new OS, consumers have the option of postponing purchases until they see PCs with the new software arriving. It takes no rocket science to understand why more and more consumers are awaiting the final arrival of Windows 8.


Slip of Windows 8 beta is going to be a challenging product transition. If an investment bank is to be believed, windows 8 rollout in the year 2012 may be a problematic event for its contemporaries. Microsoft has successfully and effectively moved from DOS to a graphical user interface and all events pertaining to it are going to be a boom in the technical space.

PC growth in CY12 is going to witness significant impact and it’s believed that Windows 8 will be able to create an eminent demand pause for the multiple quarters. So far, Microsoft has been quite careful with its announcement regarding the release date of windows 8. Windows 8 claims to be capable of offering fully developed touch interface which stands to be the first for any Microsoft PC operating system.

The launch date of windows 8 can easily slip into the Christmas season or even into the year CY13. If the indication of the application software vendors is to be believed, more changes are being made to the code than they expected. This also gives rise to the question about the running of the legacy applications on windows. For how long they will be able to run without much trouble can be a serious concern in the time to come.

It’s not surprising that Intel is more upbeat than Jaffray. The same chipmaker has been showing off tablets running windows 8 at the most talked about CES. Also, CEO Paul Otellini has been delivering comments on how windows 8 will prove to be a boon for his company. It has just been 2 years since the release of highly successful windows 7; Microsoft has announced the next big thing it has in its kitty!

Unveiling of Windows 8 is a big thing but Intel not expected to have a good year is what makes news in the first place. Windows 8 is expected to make a possible dent in iPad’s dominance in the tablet market. Although, all this and more remains to be seen it can well be admitted that it’s going to be interesting for the consumers!
