Jes MaHarry is a spirited designer/artist and the founder of Jes MaHarry Jewelry. She is passionate about eco-friendly products and all her designs are created using nature friendly practices like: only sourcing from companies that use reclaimed and recycled metal. She goes to great lengths to ensure that her designs are up to the highest standards, like hand selecting the gems and stones that go into her products and ensuring that the stones are conflict free.

Her designs come in a variety of forms and use gold/silver/bronze and precious stones. She has also been featured in Robert Redford’s esteemed Sundance Catalog here since 2000. She is a dedicated animal rights activist and regularly rescues animals and boards them at their California ranch where she stays with her husband Patrick and two loving daughters. We had a chance to interview Jes and find out about her design inspirations and other interests. Catch the exclusive interview below:

Jes, let's start with a brief introduction of yours.

I'm Jes MaHarry, a mother of two, a wife, an animal advocate, a jeweler, a designer, a compassionate heart, and an artist.

What motivates you everyday?

Being able to make a difference for the well being of our Planet, animals and all walks of life.

Since how long you have been designing and creating stunning jewelry?

I've been designing for as long as I can remember. I would play with my grandmother’s costume jewelry and soon began making my own from rusty bottle caps, feathers or even old washers.

While designing jewelry, what is your thought process? What influences the designer
within you?

Many things... I love variety-- riding with my daughter on horseback through the mountains, rescuing an animal, compassion, empathy, life, nature, emotions, quietness-- I get inspired daily.

How did you decide selling online? What attracted you the most about it?

I love the idea of being in control of my presence and making a beautiful experience when people go to my site, being able to use my own photography, writing my own content.

I really liked your 'Jewels of Kindness' program. Would you like to tell us more about it?

I'm honored to be working with people who care, who are driven to make a difference.  My Jewels of Kindness program stems from pure goodness and I'm proud to be able to give back to the world. Some of the organizations we support include Wild Horses in Need, PETA, NRDC, Heal the Ocean, Gentle Barn and so many more.

What has been the breakthrough point of your career? Or is it yet to come?

Sundance Catalog was definitely the breakthrough, it was always a dream to have my work showcased in such a wonderful catalog.

Jes, you have covered a long journey in jewelry designing! One moment/event you can't forget?

Yes, many... I remember getting ready to fly to Sundance to meet the buyers - when it came down to it I ended up changing my outfit I had bought to my favorite jeans, old cowboy boots and my favorite old buckskin fringed vintage jacket - I knew if I wanted to make an impression I needed to be "me" - to be truly authentic and I believe that decision what made me feel most comfortable and at peace. It worked!

Your portfolio has some really awesome jewelry pieces. Which one is your favorite?

At the moment my favorites are my rose gold with pink sapphires rings and charms.

Share the best compliment you've ever received for your work.

The most common compliment I have been told for years is that my work makes people feel good. That makes me feel good.

Would you like to share you future goals/plans with us?

My main goal is to bring awareness about compassion and kindness to people who wear my work.

What are the other things that interest you? What do you do in your free time?

Spending time with my family, horseback riding, hiking, yoga, painting, cooking and anything with animals.

Many other aspiring online merchants would look up to you for inspiration. What advice do you have for them?

Be true to yourself in every move you choose to make - research where & how your materials are from - find out about as much you can - knowledge is crucial in making a difference.

And a final word for our readers?

Thank you for having interest in what I have to say. With love, Jes
