Usually whenever Google introduces a makeover to any of their products, they take their own sweet time to make it available for everyone. But this time, things have been different, although some users did get a taste of a whole new YouTube couple of days back, but within 10 days users all over the world were switched to the latest homepage.

YouTube has always been a trump card for Google and just when Google is going through social networking rennaisance, this might prove out to be the most successful strategy. This strategy is aimed towards promoting channels rather than just videos, "we are trying hard to marry the best of TV and the best of online," says Shishir Mehrotra, YouTube's VP of product development.

To begin with, you will notice a completely different homepage, with quite an interesting side panel with 'Add Channels' as the first option. You can subscribe to various channels on YouTube displayed under different categories including top blogs. You can 'pin' your top favorite channels so that they are displayed in your homepage whenever you log in.

Interestingly, other than Google Plus, you can also connect your YouTube account with Facebook and Twitter. You have a lot of options to customize the homepage as per your liking.

Since this makeover is more about channels, YouTube has introduced a lot of features to make sure that you engage more socially with your audience through videos. Other than new templates and improved channel design, content creators will have access to a very neat and easy-to-use video editor, and to make things more focused towards socializing through videos, YouTube has also introduced analytics feature exclusively for your channel.

"As different uploaders have different goals, we've created new Channel templates to meet your needs whether you produce one video a week or have thousands of videos for a fan to browse. Some partners have even uploaded videos talking about the features, or giving tips on how they’re taking advantage of the new design." shares YouTube's blogpost.

To make sure YouTube is viewed more as television than an online video sharing site, Google has unveiled an interesting feature through which users can connect YouTube with their Xbox and watch YouTube videos on their television screen.

Check out this video below to learn more about these latest changes, you can also visit YouTube user manual for detailed understanding.

So what do you think of this new YouTube avatar? We think it will excite people but do you think this strategy will help Google achieve its social networking ambitions?
