Aimee Boschet is a Los Angeles based photographer who is best known for her tattoo photography, especially her work with LA Ink's Amy Nicoletto that has been featured on magazine covers, spreads, advertisements and websites.
Lately, Aimee has started working in a completely new Genre; being fascinated by the old, atmospheric look and is in love with the magical, fairytale like look of these images. Her current work can be best described as atmospheric and haunting; Aimee's fantastic series 'Ethereal' being the best example.
Recently, she was one of the Photographers featured on The French Blog, La Lettre de la Photographie which LIFE named 2011's Best Photo Blog. Additionally she has been featured in other publications and blogs as well. It's a great honor for us to have Aimee as 'Artist of the Week' on our blog. Catch her interview below with some astounding images captured by her:
Aimee, please introduce yourself to E-junkies.
My name is Aimee Boschet. I am a Los Angeles based Photographer and mother to two. I am also a designer which helps me to have a focused, yet artistic approach to details, angles and perspectives, while still maintaining the creative aspect of my work.
How did you jump into the photography world? Do you have any story to share?
I had a vision a few years ago to capture the art of tattoos and to express my thoughts through photographs of how I feel that they are secondary to each individual. Having tattoos myself and being photographed in the past I wasn't happy with the focus that was emphasized primarily on the tattoos themselves. I think people forget that we, as individuals are art in ourselves and that tattoos are an artistic enhancement of who we already are.
What influences the photographer in you?
I find inspiration everywhere and that is where my influences come from, inspiration, which I usually find in the most simple of places. I love to shoot outdoors, as nature is a constant source of inspiration for me and where beauty is so abundant. I am drawn to architectural elements, people and landscapes. I appreciate the simplicity in the lines and curves, while still being able to have the contrast of the worn and weathered elements that I love to have as my backdrops.
I browsed over your portfolio and I must say, it has some excellent works. Would you like to describe your creative thought-process while capturing an image?
Thank you! Whatever project I am working on whether it be a portrait, landscape, website, advertisement or magazine cover, I always have a very clear vision of what I am looking to capture in that shot. I am not a random Photographer. I have very specific images in my mind.

Okay, now let's talk about your most fascinating series 'Ethereal,' I would love to know everything about it.
This project started because at the time I was extremely uninspired with the work I was currently doing and a friend of mine sent me a documentary of an amazing Photographer, Sally Mann. Her work brought me back to life creativity and sent me into a very different genre then I had previously ever attempted or thought of doing. One day weeks later I was looking at my Daughter and shot the first photograph of her, which at the time I didn't know how it would be perceived, but to my surprise it was received with an incredibly positive and overwhelming response that in turn started this massive project. My intention of my ethereal series is to create images reminiscent of fairytales that are extremely atmospheric and express a deep intensity and show all of the emotions that a child can evoke.
Ethereal Series:
What kind of reception has your 'Ethereal' series has had so far?
It has had an amazing response! I think because it is something so unique, people seem to have quite the interest in them, as well as people wondering what the next shoot will be of.
What would be your next step to take this series a step ahead? Would you like to share your plans with us?
My next step is to exhibit my Photograph from this collection this weekend for the Peace Project, which is a worldwide traveling exhibition, I am also completing my first book and I am looking in to additional gallery exhibitions, as well as private sales.

I know it would be difficult for you to pick, but we would love to know your favorite image captured by you so far.
That would have to be the first photograph I did with my daughter where she is in the water, because without that photograph there would not have been any others and this series would have never happened!
What has been breakthrough point in your career or is it yet to come?
I have been grateful to have my work featured on magazine covers and in multiple publications and websites, but I 'd like to think that the best is yet to come!
What's next now? Are there any important events/activities lined up?
The Gallery exhibition this weekend is the next event and then I will be working on getting my book published. Overall, I would like to bring more awareness and interest to the public on my work.
Is there any image in your imagination that you'd like to capture someday?
I would LOVE to do a shoot of an old wooden canoe on a lake with my daughter and add those photographs to this collection..
What are the other things that interests you?
Design, art, writing and anything creative where I can express myself.
And a final word for our readers....?
Stay true to what you love to do. It may take time, even years to get your work out to the public, but as long as you love what you are doing and living your passion, then you will always be a success!
