Releasing share buttons has become a fad among social networking sites these days. Recently, Facebook launched its 'send' button, which came few weeks after LinkedIn decided to roll out its version of share button as well; and not to forget Google, who unveiled its version of 'Like' button: +1

Before these latest additions, some old players like Twitter, StumbleUpon, Buzz, Digg and not to forget, the most popular 'Like' button have already established themselves in the social sharing activity on the web; and now after gaining quite a popularity and appreciation, Tumblr too has joined the bandwagon and released its version of share button, encouraging users to share content and increase interaction.

But there is one feature that separates Tumblr's share button from other similar buttons across the web, "The Tumblr button can give you complete control over how your content appears when shared on Tumblr. Not only does this mean specifying an excerpt or summary, but also deciding whether it appears as a Link, Quote, Photo, or video embed." shares Tumblr on its blog.

Tumblr receives 26 million per month, and has more than 5 billion posts published with approximately 18 million of total blogs. According to their website, "The average Tumblr user creates 14 original posts each month, and reblogs 3. Half of those posts are photos. The rest are split between text, links, quotes, music and video." So you can imagine that how beneficial this latest release can turn out to be; both for Tumblr and its users.
